sitting on somebodies account untill deletion

if i cast my mind back to last year, there were alot of massings, and alot of wars. but i can only think of one case of someones account being sat on every turn with the sole intent of forcing them to leave, nebulator, and in this case a very good motive sat behind this.

it seems that trying to make another player delete their account has crept into commonly used tactics.

ill sit on your account till u delete

something i saw today in a thread after very little provocation. is that acceptable? this is a game open to anybody who obeys the rules. if a player is following the rules of the game, is it really a fair, honorable or acceptable thing to be doing?

this isnt meant as a whine, or an attack on anyone in specific. im just wanting to open up a discussion on whether this is now an acceptable part of the community?

I think its disgraceful but the attitude of the community has changed. Thats why i took a long break, i just got sick of all the BS. :-)

I took a year break just to get away from some of the attitudes flowing around here.....

I saw an alliance trying to make people pay them tribute to not attack them.....CF were forced to disband because they lost a war.....people are massing other for the sake of it.....planets are making people go crazy.....

But my time away reminded me of one thing....its a game.

Wars don't last as long as they used to. Anyone remember the EPA/Order war....there was no way to win a decisive victory...now there is. Although planets have increased hostility, its a lot easier to rebuild nowadays.

I still think some of the attitudes on here have gone down hill (even the bad guys like Esker made the game fun and interesting ....whilst now everyone sucks up to the big hitters), however, there are way more people online now, things change, advance, regress.....I'll leave it to you to decide in which direction the game should go...

I think this is the core problem. People who can do something about it either suck up to this new wave of aggressive players or they just hide away and are content with not doing anything as long as their armysizes keep on increasing (or they leave lol). Tis a sad story indeed.

i dont think that should happen... i mean i know people who have quit because i sat on them... but not because i said i would sit on them till they quit :? that just isnt right... it shows you are fairly selfish if you are threatening to hit someone until they delete... i mean massing for a week is different but threatening to mass until they delete is just too harsh... that doesnt means massing forever isnt allowed... but the threat makes it worse.

lol. You don't spam the Coleseum enough about how you're gonna mass anyone that touches your friends, your alliance members, you're officers, you're officers' officers, your officers' officers' aunt who clicked the recruitment link by accident..... :P

This game is free to play for all and people invest a lot of time and effort and some even real money in to the game. I don't think anyone has the right to take that away. I think there can always be terms negotiated without forcing someone to delete.

and I even said that regarding Tok'ra... although I wouldn't really mind him leaving the game...

Massing everything someone has is the sign of a good account

The ability to declare peace and make friends afterwards is the sign of a good person

I once said to a person I'd sit on them till they delete. After two days or some he deleted. :P

Well said i agree 100%.

But in comes the BS excuse of this being a "war game" and all that jazz so people think its cool to go around massing people for irrelevant reasons.

Kjarkur thats very well and good, but you didnt really answer my question. do you think that making another player, however much weaker than you, delete their account is an honourable/acceptable/fair thing to do?
