What rank would I have to reach before I started to gain glory points?

It's a little bit less than that. I'm in it now and it's somewhere around 1150-1200ish now.

its top 2% for 1 g&r per turn, top .02% (i think) for 5 a turn (i think)
i think it should be changed back to 1% again, those were the good old days

to get 5 G&R/turn you must have around rank 100

when you reached 1001 G&R point, what will happen. Is it you can choose either ascend or full market supporter status?

You can choose either but if you choose to ascend you get the full market status with it.
