OK, I have seen so much since I joined this game and I was beginning to wonder... Can someone sit back and enjoy the game and succeed in it without attacking and raiding? What is your opinion? Thanks!

depends how you define succeed...... if your aim is fun, then yes. if your aim is rank 1.... then you better have a large army

But what if you do attack and raid a lot (and generally considered insanely active), is it possible to catchup and how far could you get?

Actually, yes you can... But, at a higher rank it is harder for you to raid without consequence...

What would be the point of playing a war game and not attacking other people? This may work over in the othe game we play as HRC members but here you couldnt get far. Besides wheres the fun in not having some noob send you hate mail?

if you raided enough, there is no reason why you cant to first. your main problem is this game favours long term hard work. raiding for a couple weeks is easy. couple months? maybe not

Very well said.

It takes commitment, nothing less will do.

Commitment is the key.

But I know people who reached 20 mil army without raiding or farming, now they have the funding they are going to start doing both and im expecting their army to go sky high.

Yes you can, but before you can just sit back and relax you need to make sure to have a high UP and income to defend your assets.

with that high UP and income you can just do trades to get up in ranks, so no need to attack or raid...

Question is... is anyone doing that.

There is one option where you dont have to have a big UP or raid to get a large army or succeed in this game, and thats just pure trading.

For instance take Mujo a respected player and some would say he has succeeded in this game. As far as i'm aware he did no raiding, he traded his way through the game. (mainly through selling me and profitteroles turns)

Im sure there are other players that have done the same.

im kinda like that, i attack people very little and raid very little but when i do my army jumps a few million.

its all down to determination as people have said before.

as for massive income and UP im not even close yet

yes it does jump alot, i noticed that the other day when i put in covert lol

and it prob is possilbe but it would take along time, also if u mean from the very start then i would prob say no, it takes a long time to get past those first few men when u start if u didnt hit anyone

i would have to say that if your goal is fun its possible .... but for the highest rank, most overall power, armysize or naq no as you cant possibly work that hard and have that much determination as a player that already has a 10mil armysize can put in a total of a few hours work everyday to your 24 hours and you would still never catch him as his income/uu per turn would always keep him ahead, unless you have a big wallet  .
