Re-enforcements

ok i got this idea from another game, anyone who plays it might recognise but i think its a pretty cool idea.
main idea:
In your planets page you get the option of building an outpost (any suggestions on price are welcome) once built you can send units and weapons there and they will automatically help defend your officers, or mabye have a box where you can input ids for friends.
However, any units you send there cannot defend your own relm.
other thoughts:
have the amount of power sent to your outpost displayed on the command centre screen e.g.
16,000,000,000 (+3,000,000,000 at outpost) defence rank yyy
maby they will only defend X% of the time (arriving too late)
can only add up to X% of the persons own defence (to stop lazy people completely hiding behind others defence)
outpost can be attacked by enemy MS and defended by your own MS and fleets only, or maby you have to assign fleets to defend (those fleets cannot help you're own MS until reassigned to the MS)
outpost would have a damage meter (e.g. outpost 15% damaged) and would either
a)cost naq only
b)take X game turns turns to repair(the 30min ones)
c)take X attack turns to repair
d) take X ats AND Xnaq to repair (takes time and resources to repair)
when outpost is destroyed all remaining fleets return to the MS. all remaining troops are either destroyed or a low% manages to escape in escape pods. all weapons held there would be destroyed (all projects have risks)
outpost armor can be increced to reduce damage (not make it invincable) but would cost a lot more that the outpost and can only be upgraded to a certain point
so what do you all think? its been a while since i made a suggestion and i think its a pretty good one to come back on

thats a great idea, the ability to move armed troops around would be really cool, plus would add some strategy to game, deciding which officer to defend, you could limit it rather than all 25 would get cover.

Interesting, but I have a few questions.
The units that you send, would they be your defense units, or attack units?
Because if it is your own defense units then this idea would provide a way to 'hide' units after being massing someone, and thus prevent them from massing you back effectively. Whenever the war would end you would simply bring your units back.
If it is your attack units that would be sent then you would see people sending their entire strike to defend someone and then go raiding, and thus not loosing the 20% rebuild cost.
Both of these can be prevented in two ways though:
-Only allow a certain % of your own strike/defense to defend someone else
or
-Only allow non super units to be sent.
I prefer the second one personally, because then it would have some major drawbacks, but either would work.

i was thinking defence units, but i hadnt thought of that. hmm.... i'd say either they have to be non supers or have some transit time for your units to go to and from the outpost, just an hour or 2 maby
and zarakai thats not the game i got it from, dunno what AE is

This could be very interesting for the bigger coalitions. It could mean VERY large concentrations of troops. On the other hand, it would have to be balanced well, so that those in power don't just get even more power and solidify there positions at the top

well thats why i said it could only add X% to their defence

Fantastic Idea, very well defined, i think no more then say 10% of the army could go away(10% of your defence troops/offence troops)
i would like to see this expand to offence mabey, help one officer who sits behind his def to better be defended, help your officer who likes to farm farm better...
any ways i really like where this is going
