I just got a msn convo started, the only problem is that it came from my son who I know is somewhere where there are no computers,, took a look at his computer and msn was not even running
this is what came up
"Lucifer says:
i hope this isnt you
http://improfile.net/profile.php5?msn&e ... ternet.com"
I phoned him up and he said he was not even on msn,, I clicked the link to see what would come up, and yes an exec file,, lucky my virus protection was upto date and im not stupid enough to run unkown exec files
so be wary that this may be the way accounts are getting hacked
if the hacker is reading this
YOU SAD MUPPET, ALL THIS FOR A GAME, GO AND HACK THE FBI OR SOMETHING AND GET SHOT dead preferably, at least hack something thats worth hacking

I would ask the moderators to remove the link in the post or at least make it unclickable so noone would click it from here.

This i have seen before, what happens is someone installs the exe. and then when they go offline, the virus logs into the account, sends the link to everyone on their contacts list, and then if anyone there downloads and installs it it will carry on etc, so if the message came from your son, he must have installed it at some point on msn. This hasnt happened to me, but i have over 2k contacts on my msn now, and i have seen this virus 100's of times. So if you read this post and you get one of these messages, DONT DOWNLOAD IT!

ahh the wonder of having multiple accounts all over the place, many of which are only known within the confines of my head and used for all the important stuff.
Of course the usually safety on the net rules should apply, if you werent expecting a file or dont know what it is or who is sending it then you should never accept the send or d/l the attachment let alone run the thing.
I swear there should be a test for those who want to log onto the www It'd cut a lot of this kinda of stuff out.

As with many people, my protection always asks if I want to run an exec file, so I was quiet certain that I would be safe
if it was a genuine link I would of been able to access it,, as soon as I saw a exec file I just closed the window

Theres plenty of links like that floating around on Yahoo and MSN msgrs, just don't click them

.. I doubt your son got one specifically made for SGW, but you never know?

This is not something specific to this game, its just something that happens, IM systems are a very good way of spreading a virus. I would suggest you get your son to run a full virus scan on his PC as the fact the message came from his login suggests he was infected with the virus

Well the easiest way to tell if any kind of dogey message is fake is, Why the "F Word" would a picture be a executable file

I know plenty of idiots who have fallen for it.
