but it was good in that it was the first episode not involving the ori for some time... it was a reasonably good stand-alone episode...

I dont remember mentioning Ori in the last(Bounty) episode either 
But this was just an average episode, totally unrelated to storyline.
Although it's nice to meet someone of very similar technological advancement(except for all those fancy spaceships of Earth and so on).
On the other hand, that civ didn't manage to activate stargate without DHD, while Earth did(and still doing)...

there has been a few around our level of tech
like jonas' planet
and the lucian alliance is kind of around our level except they just steal most of there technology
