My rant

Why do I constantly hear
"it'll make the big players better"
"big players will take it all" (whatever 'it' is)
"we need to limit the big players though"
Is it because alot of big players are in CoP?
I do not consider myself as "a bigger player", but those who are there deserve to be there. The growth curve is AMAZING compaired to what it was a year ago.. yep ppl still complain, whine, and moan. Why is this? If you played a game a year longer than those who haven't played for very long, OF COURSE you're not going to be as powerful! DUH!
All I see this as a game about limits. (100mil army cap, plague, now ascended UP cap)
I welcome you to... SGW! The game of limits! Where when you become big, your power to grow is taken away!

some limits are good if you ask me. So far the only one bothering me is Market Turn limit.

I am decently large, not anything major, but I think the limits that were introduced were infact very good for the game. It added something that had to be overcome, and allowed for smaller players to catch up a little. It caused the amount of uu buyers increase, and thus the price of uu's to increase, which is also good for smaller players. At the same time it didn't actually hurt the big players(well, the plague a little, but with UP planets it kind of becomes irrelevent).
The update has forced abit more teamwork into people, which is good I believe.

some limits are indeed good, and now we have those limits and maybe a, just maybe a few too many.
I have seen people grow fast as wicked, just look at for example timistar. when i had 3,5mill army he had 3,2... i do now have a bit over 8 and his is huge... just need some time to raid now and then...
that is what the big players are, active raidiers, and anyone that save some time for that will be big themselves.
if you do not raid(or raid) you are doomed, unless you have more than 75mill army of course, and cant come complaining that you are not growing as fast as the big guys.
anyway, i agree i guess that sums up my post pretty good.

Do you remember when there was no raiding? I enjoyed the game so much more when that was the case. Why? Instead of spending mindless hours infront of a computer clicking, you just had UP. You had to pick and choose your wars; wars were so much more expensive even for the "larger" players. Now its just randomly raid, and with enough raiding, even AT prices won't stop random massings....
I remember when I had a hard time getting to rank 350 (with my massive 8k UP). I enjoyed the game... it had more... shall I say teamwork? With larger players directly giving to smaller players...

Agreed, raiding makes small players big... and directly helps those who have massive amount of time. I personally haven't raided for months now.. I really don't mind it, but I simply don't have time to sit for hours a day and do it... its not a 'priority'

Okay, you don't like the game now because of the infinate growth aspect(raiding), but essentially that is what the limits prohibit. You have me confused

I shall now give you the simplest and hardest lesson - but the most important one of your life
Girls are confusing - get used to it
I have nothing against infinate growth... but we dont' have it (cap, also can't buy UU after certain point)

it was infinte(spelling lmao) because you could still farm, but it was risky and more expensive. It easier, though, harder in some ways. need more naq, more risks and more wars..
sounds awesome, wasnt active at that time, but 3-5 moth of chaos i farmed... oh, did i farm. which was funnier, way more fun, than raiding is.

meh either way limits or no limits big players have the advantage due to the fact the more you have, the more you can get which i believe in but there has to be limits
its to encourage new players in who are major supporters of sgw

Limits don't destroy the game, they just change it. After a while, enough people will reach the hard UU limits and then troop management and skills beyond who has the larger army and who can spend the most time raiding will come into play.

And what about the year it takes to get there... (or 2 weeks if you do nothing but raid)?
That is my point! (aha! Fooled ya didn't I... and you thought I didn't have one

) they grow slower because of the stupid limit of no buying UU after 50mil... why the plague
ALSO! Have you thought of this
if there were no caps, and the large players were allowed to keep buying UU, they would make more and more naq, and would compete even more for the UU that people sell; UU prices would go up alot faster than they are now...

If there were no limits uu and turn price would be through the roof, because all the top players would hire raiders and grow exponentially with very little effort ingame, just by using their incomes....
However, I don't think there should be a straight forward cap - doesn't seem fair on those up there. There should be other ways of regulating army sizes than a flat rate cap.
Making the top 100 worth while being in would increase the amount the top players spend on rank rather than potetially on uu....Maybe ranking g&r points (not to affect your overall rank, just as a bit of fun)....those kinds of things to add the competition back into the game for the big players.
