Who would have the time to spend multiple days playing SGW (or any game, for that matter) without sleep? Don't they have school and/or a job?

My interest in spending multiple days with no sleep on anything ended sometime when I was a teenager.

I know someone who stayed up for 2/3 days playing Runescape non stop... (Its the root of all evil, don't touch it... ever.)

I slapped him for it.

I stayed up for 2 weeks doing a major work for school once. I got, in that time, maybe 3 hours sleep, so it wasn't entirely non-stop... probably did 9 days non-stop though.

I do not believe that is no sleep at all - medically the body cannot cope - even after 24 hours of no sleep neurons in the brain start becoming overworked and do strange things.

between 3 - 5 days of no sleep incurs hallucinations - it is also at this point that there is a risk of brain damage and/or insanity.

People may believe that they are awake for days on end - but the reality is that even though they may think they are aware of things around them, they dip in and out of brain wave sleep, sometimes for as little as periods of 10 - 15 seconds many, many times during the day, without even realising it.

That is being more than a little pedantic.

No it's not - and it wasn't aimed at you (although i don't believe for a second you went 9 days straight without sleep) - it is NOT possible unless it is forced upon you by an external influence - and even then it isn't always possible.

People may think they are awake during these times, they may even think they are perceiving what is going on around them, but studies (and situations I have witnessed) have shown that much of this time the people are in fact asleep.

Well I think the fact that the assignment was worth 100% of my grade, and the dangerously large amounts of caffeine I consumed really count as an external influence.

EDIT: and pungemo said he wanted to talk to you about something important (this isn't posting on his behalf, it's relaying a message to an individual [r_sheepie@hotmail.com])

lmao - not that kind of external influence - I'm talking about a person actually keeping you awake through physical and mental manipulation.

And it doesn't matter how much caffeine you drink - there comes a point (very low actually) where your brain cannot absorb anymore caffeine and no matter how much more you drink, it has no further affect.

That's why one has to time caffeine and bright lights appropriately. Also, at most times there was someone there metaphorically, and occasionally literally, poking me.

lol - whatever you say - but 9 days straight is not possible without somebody externally keeping you awake. As I said above - your body would shut down long before to avoid the risk of brain damage or insanity.

I would say the limit is probably around 3 - 4 days - at this point people begin sleeping without realising it (waking sleep).

I count myself as rather insane.
