planet stealing

1. if somebody stole a planet from me and then abandoned it, would the i be able to use a becon to get it back? how does that work? would it just say it's floating around and give a message asking if would i would like to go collect it now or what?
2. if i attacked somebodies planet, do i need to destroy all its defenses or can i capture it with some remaining?

yes the beacon gets it back and you only have to overcome the opponent his planet def to take it

When you capture a planet, you destroy all the defenses on the planet in the process, essentially starting over from scratch.

:/ you gotta kill all the def on a planet to take it ie. you take a planet with 300 mil def with a 300mil+ fleet and when you get it therell be no more def on it
