Forced Password Rotations :(

Is this really required? I mean if I wanted to be forced to change my password on a regular basis I would go and use the computers at my local military base.
This is really just gonna force people to write down their passwords making them unsafe anyways. I mean if you pick a good password & are sensible there is no reason why you should have to change it. Much less be forced too.
grrrr, really hate poor attempts to ensure security & this is certainly one of the more annoying ways it can be done

no one is saying when you change a password it has to be something different. it's just a way of reminding people of security issues
thumbs up forum from me

You can re-enter your old password as your new password.

Or if you know anything about password security you'd consider a lil slight against you. I mean come on its not hard to know just a lil password security these days, not doing so is just laziness.
Its not for my good at all, I have carefully selected passwords & I'm currently using a fallback that isnt as secure as my standards usually are while I think of a another secure & random one that will satisfy my personal requirements. Its annoying, end of.

As people said above just re-enter your old one if it is what you want.

It's much easier to just change it to what it already is. Doesn't keep coming back up.

I think it's a good idea. And getting rid of it is very simple. The only thing I miss is a guide to making a good password, for those who have no idea of password security. There's one on these forums already, so a link to that thread would be a start.

I don't think writing them down in most cases would make it unsafe because a lot of people access SGW from home... who's gonna see your password on a bit of paper in your home?

but it is generally unsafe to write any password down and if you got into the habit of writing this one down it could lead to more unsafe procedures, just make up a 10 digit alphanumeric code that has no relation to you or anybody/anything around you and that way when you memorise it,it will be very secure
good job forum for bringing password security to the foreground where it belongs
