Keep Music Section Rule 5 as is, or change it?

This is a general poll about multilpe threads and what may or may not be a multiple thread.

There has been some feedback as to what is a multiple thread and what isn't in recent days. Currently, I interpret and the rules are laid out, so that each artist has only one thread for all of their works(Rule 5 as seen below).

Questions arise then as to when a group of people with to discuss an album made by an artist, and create a new thread for it. As the rules are laid out now, the thread about recent works is considered a multiple thread and is locked, and posters are directed to talk about recent albums/singles in the existing thread for the artist.

So, I ask those visiting the music section to post their opinion if multiple threads should be allowed if discussing albums/singles.

Please post your opinion and reason(s) supporting it. A poll won't be created for this, voting will be tabulated by posts and complied after 10 days, starting now.

5. When you are making a topic please state the band name in the title so we don't have numerous threads talking about the same thing. Please search for existing threads about artists. Only one thread per artist is allowed. Duplicate threads will be locked and removed.

Since this forum lacks a merge feature, there is no way to deal with multiple threads aside from deletion and locking. I believe either of those two are better than the alternative of five or six different threads about K-Fed's 'ubderness'.

(:cough: kidding people, kidding  )

maybe multiple threads should be okay but within reason. maybe if people can talk about new albums for example and in another thread talk about the members themselves, but if multiple of specific topics arise, that should be dealt with maybe with a locking / deletion.

this might allow for more than one thread per band but it might also permit alternate conversations, like 'where did mudvayne get their name?' and 'who has mudvaynes album LD.50?'
(more room for conversation but like I said, within reason.

If a group has more than one album does that mean that each album will have it's own thread?

maybe, if the topic arises, for instance Anberlin have 3 albums out now, so that would be a maximum of maybe 4/5 threads, (1 or 2 extra for general discussion on the band) maybe?

dunno, just suggestions atm. :-D

That could be done, but is it a practical solution? It does mean a lot of more extra work for misc mods.

To check if there is an existing thread, and then to monitor ~4-5 more threads about albums per artist?

i was a supermod on a small forum for a while and that thought of modding through that scares me...

Well, it's been 12 days and no convincing arguements have been brought forward in this thread to change rule 5, so it stands for now, until forther discussion is warranted.
