The penaltys of an undefended realm

So i was thinking about a bunch of other possible improvements for sgws, and it came to me there really should be a penalty for purposely having a 0 defense realm.

I was thinking along the lines of:
a. Your realm is undefended and is being hit constantly by independant pirate factions, to represent this have a drain on said accounts income and untrained production, i dont want to sound too extreme but it should'nt be some light thing, mabye -40% income -25% up, This sounds harsh, but it means that to keep your incomes it will force you to maintain a defense, thus breathing a lot of life back into stale "war" aka farming.

b.the miner killing option i added to urogards post about killing lifers, pasted here;

actually now that ive thought it out a lot better, having the ability to only kill miners, and not lifers would be better.

as it stands lifers are nothing but a penalty, but if this change were enacted lifers would become something you actually want to have a somewhat larger than normal number of if your a warlike person, as one of the costs of war can be your miners.

This by itself would change how this current war is working, with people hiding behind no stats and all miners making large incomes and just selling the naq for $, now to keep those large incomes you would need to keep a ldefense up through mass attempts to ensure against the predation of your population.


also in regards to the machanics of it, since people are so worried, have the option to destroy miners available in a situation like this one that follows;

Player a declares war and starts attacking/massing player b, he is unable to just destroy his defense and start on the mienr population, but unless player b is either 1,also declared war against player a, or to stop people from hiding behind not warring the person, has performed a certain number of attacks, or some other determining criteria against player a.


I just wanted to consolidate my idea from uroguards lifer kill post neatly in with my new suggestion :D sorry if i made ya read twice :)

the idea had potential and would solve the current stalemate that basically exists.

It would kill raiding wich is bad for the balance of the game

so? raiding and progression will slow down, thats not the end of the world .... mabye even help towards raising/removing the current army cap penaltys.

RAIDING is whats bad for the balance of the game.

As long as nothing like killing lifers/miners is added itll be cool


This way, people HAVE to invest in ANY defense to keep from loosing their stuff.

Basically it would be a farmers/raiders dream come true.

Now instead of worring about being massed for UU out and farmed all day, the game naturally lowers you while you have no defence....

I think if you have no def there will be nothing to guard your miners, making it possible for wild animals to attack them, or some thing like that, but make it a very little amount.

But that would be as useless as plauge is for larger players, their UP is bigger than the penalty.


Prehaps have a random% Of your UP units run away each turn while at 0 def.

Implent this now and it will kill the balance maybe raiding shouldnt have implented ever but since it is here for s while already you can take it away again....

Its funny to see people who cant do raiding complain about it

Actually raiding is only chance for newbies to catch up a bit with old players... I encourage my newbie officer to raid...remove raiding feature from game would be harsh MAINLY for these who try to catch up with big guys.

i dont think it would make much of a difference as most people in war would have maybe 1-2 def weps in place

nah, 1-2 weps aint enough to fight off space pirates with ha'taks man ... itd have to be relative to your army size.

so basicly their then would have to be a minimum defense needed ? now IMHO that is a rather "silly" notion , having to have your defense a certain stregnth :?

more logical than silly .... bigger mines and warehouses = more policing troops needed.

have it be not based on your army size, but rather how many miners you have trained currently, much as banksize is done.

why does everyone keep insiting on calling me uroguard and not urogard (without the u)

oh and raiding is the way i caught up with the powerful people ingame. I started january 2006, nearly a year after server started.
