Honor in SGW

Can honor be achieved in the SGW's. I'd like to think so but there are many road blocks.

1. Many players like to be plain mean. Especially to new players just learning the game. Sorry to tell you this no one learns anything by massing or farming. If someone makes a mistake don't make threats take them under your wing and teach them.

2. Learn good sportsmanship. If someone get a good Naq hit on you don't get all ticked off and call in your commander for a Naq hit. Send them a message and congratulate them. Laugh about it and you'll feel better.

3. Endless wars. Whats the point, unless you have no other life but SGW's. Set wars for a certain date and go all out. After the time expires there should be no hard feelings.

4. Uneven wars. Huge alliances attacking much smaller alliances just because then can. Whats fun about a one sided war?

5. Mercs and commanders in war. Mercs in a war, If you higher a merc you should own up to it. It just shows that you or your alliance couldn't do it on its own. If you bring in a commander to fight your battles especially if you start the fight, I'm sorry that's just wussy behavior. And the commander that supports that in battle belittles his officers and himself. Making themselves honor less and should be named as such.

I'm sure there are other road blocks but I can't think of anymore at the moment.

Plz give your comments on this matter.

there are plenty of people in the SGW community with honour you just dont hear too much about it.

remember the saying "when you do something right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all"

I prefer 'No good deed goes unpunished.'

The typical response you will get from this is, 'small players shouldn't mess with big players. It is true to an extent. As far as not learning from being massed or farmed, well...that isn't true. If you get massed because you left too many uu's out, you will probably train them more often or build a bigger defense. If you get massed because you ticked someone off, I guess you get the chance to be a diplomat or a fighter, depending on your style. :P

And many players do take smaller players under their wings. There are many commanders who do this(not all ofcourse), and also many feeder alliances that serve this purpose.

I agree. Although during non-war times I don't get farmed much(normally), when I do I try to take it lightly, often making fun of myself.

Depends on your game play. When not at war you are pretty much statbuilding, while at war it is simular, but only the most active players continue to grow as much.

Most of the time they are classified as 'training wars'. Something I personally disagree with. Sometimes the 'victims' get help in rebuilding, but not all the time.

The first part I halfway agree with. If the mercs severely change the balance of the war(like a 60 mil army guy entering a war between 2 alliances where the average army is 200 k). That is bad. If the war is an even one though, and any one's personally entrance doesn't make a difference, that is fine(kinda like the CIA/CoP war, many mercs on both sides, and nothing is wrong with it as they are not affecting things too much one way or the other.)

I do disagree with bringing in commanders though, unless the officer is being picked on by many people, or just one who is far larger than he/she is. Ofcourse if the officer started it..well, then it should be their own fault, but that can be near impossible to distinguish sometimes.

There is still some honor in the game. Some players attempt to keep it,(Teal'uc comes to mind as an example), but it is difficult to judge because honorable acts or dishonorable acts can be hard to judge either way, and it mostly depends on what side of the fence you are on.

1. Massing and threatening new players is inexcusable. While I have attacked an alliance of players who were all less than 1/4 my size, It was in retaliation after being massed by some of their players for no reason, followed by threats. Hint-if you have 250k total army size, and you try to threaten someone with over 15 million, you have just officially bit off more than you can chew.

2. Agreed. Much less stress that way.

3. Meh, all wars end at some point, some just take longer than others. The hard feelings part is just part and partial to the game for some people.

4. Agreed, some challenge is needed. Much like using a cheat code in a vid game to become invincible, wheres the fun in no challange?

5. Paying someone else to do your dirty work is cowardly. Either attack yourself or quit. As far as commanders, you shouldnt need your commander for every little thing, and they are probably busy with their own game playing. Usage of a commander should be limited to times when people ACTUALLY need help.

All in all, I agree, now comes the hard part, getting the majority to agree, or admit to agreeing.

Heck it would be nice to get just number 2 agreed upon by the major alliances. It would make playing the game much more enjoyable.

Honor? I love you people :)

^ see you even made me smile.

Dont get carried away though, if your bringing 'honour' into a game then someone needs to go stretch their legs a bit in RL. You dont need an 'excuse' to decide to go attack someone.
But since this game has got more...erm user interactive, where people are in more contact with eachother, people seem to make it out that you need to have morals to support your actions.

Thats why people complain of being massed. seeming to think there has to be a reason for it, and they get angry (not everyone obviously) over their lost stats.

Maybye honor is just too strong of a word. obviously it is nice knowing some people have personal restraint and DONT go around wasting other peoples accounts for the fun of it, since that takes away others enjoyment of the game. (even if that was what the game was made for....smashing in everyone elses stats) But you can hardly call it honor. Call it a lack of self-indulgence or an open mind to others in sgw's community.
