Merc Limit

The abuse of the merc overlimit is getting out of hand.

My solution(s):

A) Increase the percentage lost.

B) Limit it by the percentage of trained troops and total armysize.

C) Have the merc's take resources from your account, possibly other units.

D) Don't allow the regular (attack /def) troops to be untrained. Maybe a percentage stays (like the miner setup).

E) Can't have mercs over the limit.

Opinions welcome, no flaming.

I think 10% per turn, it would only take 5 hours for them all to leave.

how about having over-limit abuse really hurt? have it remove 10% of all mercs per turn when over limit, not just 10% of those over the limit... that would also make it balance out quicker...

Both of those would rely on turn changes, which could still be abused

i liked it better when the limit was enforced. Then add the deserters if you untrain.

Better yet, for every 1% over the limit you are make it so your attack power drops 1% and you take 1% less naq and UU in raids and such.

That would drasticly cut the abuse.

Then what would happen to the def mercs? Would the unit power of each drop?

Here's a perfect example, even though their untrained mercs.... I'll add comma's to make it easier...

______________Attackers______Defenders________Untrained

Mercenaries_____469,306__________0___________15,293,650
Fleet _____________0_____________0______________1650
Super Soldiers____236__________896731__________1876952

That person has a 1mil army.... What's wrong with this picture?

Do you think that's wrong?

1 ) he has at least 3 mill armysize...

2 ) those mercs are purely useful for ascending /bragging rights...

3 ) thats not wrong...

4 ) It doesnt show his armysize being bigger...

5 ) he gets no benefit from it

6 ) its not hurting anyone...

Here's another example:

Example:
1. Untrain 6mil miners.
2. Train 6mil into attack units (not super)
3. Buy an additional 3mil attack mercs.
4. Untrain the 6mil attack units.
5. Retrain the 6mil units into miners.

So there's nothing wrong with this?

I think that's called unfair advantage.

I see your point, but people still do this regardless.

More suggestions / comments? :-D

They can use the units in anti covert and not get the lifer penilty. The untrained mercs do not help or hurt you in any way and don't add to your army size so I see no problem with having large amounts of them.

As for the abuse, Forum knew it would happen when he put this update in. At least I hope he had enough foresight to see it. I did the second the update was released. There needs to be a limit so you can't buy over your proper amount. The surplus mercs need to adversly effect your stats or the abuse will continue.
