What rules and Topics do you want for SGW general?

We are currently discussing the rules for this forum part in the mod section.
But i really think that to get to a good solution we need to hear the normal forum users voice too.
So i ask you to post the ruleset of allowed topics you want to have here.
But there are some rules for doing this:
1. No flames at all ( not even on the current sittuation. )
2. Try to work to gether not agains each other.
3. No spamm.
4. I cant gurantee we will agree to the rules that are wanted here. But we will read and discuss them as minimum.
5. Use this chance to help the communit.
6. i think i go way overboard with this considering my actual standing but i think its important to know everybodys view

I know I said I gave up on the fourm, but Flavar PMd me askin for me not to do so, so Ill try one more time.
I say keep make general actualyl ike its topic description states.
StarGateWars General
Forum for all general ingame discussion.
If its about the game and those that play it (like people ingame getting on teamspeak for example, as it is both for fun as we can talk to eacthotehr and we can more easily coordinate ingame activites), it should go here.
a thread that has to do with the game or players should NEVER get moved to this and that or the spam temple.
Also, people simply posting because they dislike someone and wish to derail the thread should be not allowed (anywere really) and should be heavily moderated as well.
Furthermore, stop locking/moving longer topics.
If the thread is TRUELY DEAD people will stop posting, if it got spammed, just delete the spam posts, dont lock/move for that.
And took from another thread...........

i was gone for a week writing finals done now started to come back to the forums...anything good happened? or is it same old same old?
Same old same old.
But realized taht the mods didnt have an actual deffiniton of what types of threads 'belong' in general tho
:p
well we I had one until i was brought to thinking about improving it.
all well thought help and suggestions are more than welcome if they are forwared in the right way.
i really would want that we find together a solution
and now back to the war and not other topics here .
So by all means flavar, post it, since noone has yet.

My old policy was moving and locking if there was spam in.
and a far to heavy aspect of what just funny topics could stay. i think we can all agree that we dont want that sort of policy

Indeed, that policy is a lazy method.
It could lead to a return of nuto's old tactic of 'thread crtiicizes me, flame spam, ask for lock'
I say as long as it has to do with the game, isnt an obuous newguy question, and isnt a war, or something specific for another section, it should always go here, there should be no moving to the spam temple, threads should always be left here unlocked or moved til they actualy die, becasue of regardless of if the topic has waverd off course or not, a thread is not truley dead until noone posts in it for ages.

however post and topics that clearly break the rules still have to be moved/closed / deleted
nobody sane should want to read hiderous insults.
on a side node i am now off for 2 days

That goes without saying, posts within a topic should be handled on a post by post basis.
Topics that do so are moved allready.

Far too much negative emphasis is being placed on how things aren't right round here these days. It's horse. Seriously, whining about whining, moaning about moaning, it's enough to make me contemplate suicide. If some folks concentrated at least half their efforts they put into slating moderators and criticising other peoples posts, and postings styles and used that energy constructively, we might be onto something.
As far the General Discussion section, and what that entails, how about this, general discussion? Marvelous thinking I know. Perhaps a certain few individuals should also stop getting arsy about Tok'ra and his posts, and see them for what they are, a decent attempt at humour and pro-community building.
As for moderators, well it's a difficult one to call. There are one or two who are exceptional, they're always on their best behaved and command responsibility with the upmost proffesionalism. They deserve respect, sometimes a hell of a lot more than they receive but that's all part of the job, and the best know that they are susceptible to getting stick. The rest are pretty average.

Agreed, if you dont like a thread you shouldnt post in it. Applies to not liking the person that posted it.

The problem is people are full of themselves, and dont like admiting to error. And it takes humor to see humor.

If only all moderators were like that though.
Most of the mods do good. THe problem is a few of them, when they see a thread they dislike, or posted by someone they dont like, will attempt to derail the thread so they can have an excuse to lock it

But, um... yeah. ontopic..
A simple policy of 'hands off' unless rules are broke, the thread obviously belings in another section, or its sole purpose is a flamefest, would prolly be all general needs.
As long as it has to do with the game or ingame, leave it here.

I don't know. If the thread is obviously not going to go anywhere, and doesn't really appeal to anyone's interest then I think it should be moved to spam/this-that. Obviously it should be given a chance first, but some things are just obviously not going to go anywhere and are only loosely associated to the game.

if i were to define what should go into SGW General this is it
1) anything game related,
ie. how much up do ppl have?
how often have you been farmed?
stupid pms ppl send ingame
stupid things ppl have done ingame
dont you just hate it when [someone] beats the hell out of your defence?
etc.
unless its a question like: how do i attack?
how do i get officers
etc. they belong in newbie forum
2) any topics that have been totally spamed to death to the point theres no real topic any more should be locked until requested reopened by author
3) ill think of later
but in general, i gotta agree with tok'ra
StarGateWars General
