Colonisation

This has probably been mentioned before (it's not a revolutionary idea), but I looked and couldn't find it, so I thought I would.
It's unlikely to be implemented due to the massive way it would change the game and the large amount of coding that would be needed for it, but it's still a good idea (imho).
Basically, the idea is that instead of planets like they are now, planets would be a whole new realm, like a new account almost, linked to your Home Planet.
So you have your normal realm like it is now. You send out your MS, it finds a planet. You can choose to colonise this planet if you wish. From your main "Command Center" screen, there is now a drop down menu somewhere, that will switch you between these planets that you have colonised. Each planet would be like a new separate account - they have their own tech upgrades, UP, income, army, armory etc.
The current planet system could even be kept, changing them from planets to moons.
Once this system is in place, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. You could be able to set up Naq-generating "Trade Links" between your planets, or even other people's planets. You could have Space Fleets to conquer other people's planets, and planetary fleets to defend your planets (I would suggest that the Home Planet is unconquerable).
Balance would be kept as though having multiple planets would be a big bonus, it would also be a big investment. It would also give the bigger players who feel they've achieved everything on their accounts (eg the people with 50mil+ armies) something to do, and keep them playing the game rather than selling up. No doubt they'd be a load of nostalgia for older players too, as they get to build up a realm from scratch again, without having to give up their account.
I'm unsure as to what the level of interaction between your planets should be...it would be cool to be able to have them as swaping some people and resources, but some people could take advantage of this and just funnel everything back into their Home Planet. Perhaps to move troops or Naq between planets they would have to go on transport ships that take a day to get to other planets and can be attacked by exploring Motherships or fleets en route (perhaps these transport ships need a convoy of protective ships too). However, to stop big players just sending over huge amounts of naq to their new planets to grow it far quicker than the smaller players could keep up, it might be better to have no inter-planetary resource exchange at all, or have limits on the amount that can be sent by Transport Ship.
The original idea probably needs less coding than it sounds, as all the stuff (Amory, training, tech etc) is already coded. It's the extra stuff (eg all the fleet stuff) that would take time.
What do you think?
