Great Games

Admin, please understand that I post this with all of the respect that I can possibly muster.

The things that make games GREAT are games that have consistency in their rules. It's what makes chess such a popular game throughout cultures and eras. Great games are games that have the same rules and those rules can be taken by the players and strategies used to better oneself in the game. The reason this game is starting to be annoying is because everyone starts to take the rules and adjust their playing styles to them, and then all of a sudden the game up and changes randomly without real reason other than a perceived notion of how the game should be run. That's not what makes a game great. Listen, we all started somewhere and were able to adapt to the rules....I don't understand why new players can't do the exact same things. That's my beef. If you want a great game you have to be consistent in the rules...not go changing them whenever the game isn't working out to certain players, whether big or little's, advantage. If these are the new rules....fine....but stick with them from now on.

Again, this is a great game and you can do whatever you want with it in the end. But please realize, the more and more frustrations you add by adding new rules whenever someone finds a way to use the game to their advantage will only cause more people to just say "screw it" in the end. I'm really close myself right now.

So you want to tell that ppl should be allowed to exploit every bug they found without reporting it, and admin would have to stop fixing them?

Or my English is playing with me?

I think change is needed to keep the game fresh and to give new players a chance etc.

I assume this has to do with the recent updates...

I'll quickly cover all 3

Purgatory - I quite like it... its entertaining :) if I didnt like it I would wait...

the only thing I dont like is that ill miss out on using my MT's for AT to flog...

UP planet - update was needed it was getting out of control...

Income planet - so very much needed it was the ugly unwanted and unloved brother of the planet family... it was given a well needed make over and its still ugly :)

The rules of chess have changed. The Vizier used to be the where the queen was and did not have much power. When chess moved to Europe they changed the rules to increase the game speed (making the queen and giving her tons of power).

I'm curious, as I hate to judge by forum reg... but how old is your account?
Perhaps you don't recall the games state at it's inception...

Would you prefer it if we had -
No Motherships
No Planets
No Anti-covert
No Techs
No Ascension (well, actually :P )
No Realm Alert
No Ingame mail
No Officers (and no bonuses thereof)
No Commanders (and no bonuses thereof)
No lone wolf bonuses
No ability to sell off your mercs
No Bank
No Commander Knowledge
No super soldiers
No Alliances
No Peace/War relation setting
No Message blocking
No miners
No Raiding
--------------------- and all the other, much smaller ones.
There is something to be said for nostalgia... but unless we also went back to 15K Naq being a big hit, I can't see it lasting long.

I'll agree that some updates aren't as good as they should be, and thousands of suggestions need to simply be burnt... but updates are not a bad thing... forcing players to change their strategies is also not a bad thing... ever played Impossible-****** and faced the whalobster combo ad naseum? It was a refreshing change when the update came out, and we had to stcramble for new strats.
Same in SGW... the changes give the advantage to those who think quick on their feet.

Meh, it is of course, possible that you do not like any of those updates... in which case we are at an impasse. I for one like my mothership, and can't imagine going back to the days without it and it's custom-ordered bling.

I'm really close myself right now.

You've not faced disappointment until you've been top five, and had three people with credit cards abuse the AS feature to go from nothing to quintuple your stats overnight. Not to mention the admin running off...
....I'm sorry, but I've played numerous other MMORPG's, and keep returning to SGW. As many problems as there are... it is still better than the other KoC knockoff's i've played.

This is basically as good as it gets... and while it may not be excellent, or surpass other 'free' games of othe r genras in enjoyment, I still find a place for it.

I have played a few online games like this, and the ones that don't have updates, and don't change, die.

A game I played for 2 years used to have updates. I remember the player base starting at around 30, and then building to more than 500 active members(not that special, but not terrible). Now 2 more years have gone by since the last update of something new. There are about 15 active players left.

Admin should have Offical Polls to see what palyers think of updates before embarking on them.

It's simple... I call for the Fourth Incarnation to meet up with Admin like every 2 days. :)

Those who need know, know what I mean. They also know I shouldn't be able to know. Meh. I know. That's what counts. ;)
