I know this happened several months ago and I planned to make a thread about it a long time ago. For those who don't know many sites on Estonia were "swamped" and forced to shut down, according to the article in "The Economist" their 911 or emergency number was shut down for several amount of hours. According to speculation this was funded by the Russian government over the controversy of Estonia removing a Soviet War Statue. Thoughts?

My personal thought is, go Russia put back your dominance in eastern europe.

This will only lead to even worse EU-Russia relations. Now I hear they are aiming Nuclear weapons at Eruope again should the US put missile defence systems in Czech republic and Poland (I'm against US involvement in Europe). Are we going backwards in time or something? It's like the cold war is starting again. I say we (the EU) should just slap a massive ban on all things Russian.

that will just push Russia and US to side with each other against Europe.

We shouldn't be dependent on it, but sadly we are. Perhaps a complete ban is alittle harsh, however a message needs to be sent to Russia that it's time of bullying the east is over. It's economy needs us as much as we need it.

They put missiles directed at Europe BECAUSE of americans pointing missiles to Russia saying it's pointed at Iran (who would believe such stupid official version??)...Iran just got nuclear tech, how the hell could they throw missiles at europe

It's clear Bush is aiming them at Russia. Maybe he's nostalgic of cold war??

That is why I am against US military build up in Europe, it puts Europe in the direct firing line. I don't see the US opening up to let German, British or Italian (I won't mention french, theres no chance there) bases be built over there.

bluntly, if the USA wanted to fire nukes at Russia they could do it, regardless of where the missles are based

France has a "real army" while German one is still moderated since Marshall plan after WW2 to prevent another rise in power from Germany; why would Germany build more a base than France then? Germany army is used in ONU and OTAN missions, not on other independant missions like France and Britain do.
USA installs military in Europe not because they love us (lmao!!); more because they want to stop Russia relations with Europe, Putin said it recently.
Or maybe because they want to screw world up like they often do

...Finally, could have nostalgy of Cold War, who knows??

Building radar bases is part of collective defense (article 5 of Washington treaty, I think...)
Europe always worked as bumper between USA and Russia. This must remain as is now, othervise USA and Russia might wipe out each other due to some idiot being leader on one or another side (thank god for system of checks and ballances)...
Europe simply must stay neutral, but it is kinda hard, when Russia is suplying us with oil and most of european countries are members of NATO, which is majorily supplied by USA...
Our only hope is to build up a military force strong enough to protect European countries without USA and without Russian oil and gas, become more independent and more confident...
Otherwise we will remain between Scylla and Charybdis...

My comment abut France wasn't intended as an insult just the France would be the less likely to be allowed in the US since the public there has a distorted view them.
I agree with you Tal Rasha, Europe needs to grow stronger and more condient so we can stand on our own legs and not have to rely on the US military for protection. If Merkel gets her way we won't have to wait long for the Euro Army to be established.

Removed isn't good word for this situation, I would use relocated.
911 numbers offline, please quote that paragraph ? I didn't notice anything like that, phones were working normally. Our major news portals were down and one of our banks was attacked. But our techies managed to get them back online.
As for dominance over eastern europe again: From what hole you crawled out?

no country has the right to dominate any other nation.
The world would be a lot better place if ppl took care of their own backyards instead of worrying what is going on next door.

your all offtopic, topic is about Estonia not Europe:P
im from Estonia and the only thing to say is Russia sucks.
They have "own" history
example: Russia conquer Estonia after ww2 and took lots of Estonian ppl to siber do die.
they think we are part of them, some even dont know that we are free from them.
they tried to hollow out us and make an "coup d'état" there was a post in some forum form some Ivan or whatever from Moscow, something like this: "why they(we, Estonians) whine about it, Lenin gave them this land"
LMAO
now that coup d'état failed, they try bully us with internet attacks.
there is much, much more i could write here about this but my comp(inc. keyboard) is on the floor and its kinda hard.

In my opinion, I should be made supreme overlord of the world, either that or all the worls governtments really need to grow up, quit spending money on rubbish like nukes and try saveing lives, Starting in darfor, and maybe the usa should spend a lil more money rebuilding new orleans...Still a complete wrek.
