Its time to get real folks.. Do you still watch Stargate?

The reason I ask..

When I started playing SGW I was a hardcore SG-1 fan. Tonight it occured to me that I have not even watched my DVD episodes or a new episode in over a year now.

Its safe to say I am no longer a fan of the show. I just stopped caring at the end of season eight.

Morpheous, or orifice whatever it was called, the last episodes of season eight really stunk, the Ori are too powerful to defeat and really blow (can anyone tell me why they have not vaporized SG1 and earth already?) If I was technically a living god and a bunch of mortals were causing problems in my grand design like hemmoroids, I would just squash them like bugs. (or expel them from my anus) They are too strong of a foe. Its like giving a little kid a bunch of nerf **Filtered** entering him in an episode of American Gladiators.

Now that the ratings have dropped and the show has reached its bitter zenith, it ends with absolutely no conclusion to anything...

If it ended with Threads, it would have went down with a little more decency. I would have been happy with Threads as a final episode.

Forget Stargate, I have bigger fish to fry like the Golden Girls.

Stargate started to go downhill when RDA left.

I still like the show, but don't watch because I don't have cable or my DVDs here.

Um.... Sorry, but this is nothing new.
In my mind (and posts) SG-1 and SGA have been dead for a long time.
Powercreep killed SG-1, while terrible characters and power-creep did a double-tap to crush SGA.

/VentingModeOn (before I move this)

Problems I have with SGA: Characters/Actors:
Weir - She's settled down much, but for the first two seasons I felt she was a pain to watch.

Ronan a'la Conan: Stereotyped characters do little to interest me.

Teyla "The Banshe": Not so much stereotyped as terribly written - "Tea ceremonies" a two-piece, and painful vocals do not lend themselves to depth (in this case at least)

The Wraith: Wow, just Wow.
I have never seen such a cool concept get torn asunder so fast.
Once we see their drones are mere stupid dolts, and their warriors getting killed with pistols, we know power-creep has kneecapped the primary villain... which leads me to:

The Genii:
Here I thought: Sweet, so the wraith are gone - at least we have this really excellent terrorist-leader as a villain backed by a bunch of covert-types... not only do the Genii revolt - Sheppard kills the man in a duel.

Leaving us with....
No bad guys. Just some puny pegasus-replicators, and a half [b]billion[/i] ZPMs!
Sweet mercy I don't know what the writers where thinking - but it wasn't long-term. Really, I give SGA props for being the worst show i've seen in terms of power-creep....

---------------

As for SG-1.... as soon as we stopped sneaking around the holds of Goauld Cargo ships like rats, the game started to crumble. Heck, when the Russians got hyper drive you knew we were starting our last eager breaths.
And Vela-whats-her-name... falls (imho) the same category of Ronan and Teyla - A painfully depthless character.

Further, the whole SG1 galaxy suddenly did a complete change in nature...

-------------------

/VentModOff

Gargh... Both series have really disappointed me. SGA still turns out the odd gems revolving around Mckay (whom I really applaud as character and actor), but no, I don't really bother any more... esp. with SG1

Everything has gone downhill... the characters, the writing, the bad guys.
I no longer feel like I'm watching a unique Sci-Fi phenomena, but some cardboard pre-packaged 'TV-light' for the masses.

I feel Stargate's storyline and episodes are sliding tremendously, whereas Atlantis is actually becoming a show of its own as the characters have meshed together.

For the last 3 Friday nights or so, Atlantis has beat SG-1 in quality of story.

well the reason the ORI dont destroy earth is three-fold
1. if the ORI ascended attempt to directly interfere in this area of space(or whatever you call it lol) the ancients will get involved and the ORI dont want a fight till they have the power of the all this areas worshipers. Then they would be strong enough to beat the ancients without many loses.
2. The ORI dont send their ships to earth becasue of the atlantis device which would defend the planet from a large assualt eventualy they would destroy us though.
3. The clasic SGW vilian over confidence lol, the ORI didnt realy see earth as a big enough threat lol woops

Oh and every foe SGW has ever faced has been way to powerful thats what makes it fun in time they figure out how to beat them but at first it always seems impossible lol
I hope that answered your issues and maybe you could give the show another chance

They never took the characters seriously. One of the dumbest things the producers ever did was constantly re-cast the same actors.

So if a cool character died, rest assured the actor that played him or her
will be back next week as some random soldier or cheezer.

Its like re-casting Liam Neeson to play count Dooku in Attack of the Clones after his character, Quaigon Jin died in the previous movie.

Its just a pair of pantyhose stuffed full of **Filtered**..

How would you like it if I recast John F Kennedy to play our next president?

How can we watch this program without noticing that? Are we all expected to fall for it and not say to our TV's "Dude, I thought you were dead?"

SGA, the religious town, where SG-1 is cast as demons... the religious leader who strikes them down with his tech ring and then SG-1 are taken by an Unas...

That religious leader is also in SGA, the episode where the team finds a penal colony next to the gate where upon the wraith feed on them, and spare the rest of the population... he is the leader of the people

Hope you people know the episodes i mean, i'll try to find episode names.
