pairing merces

In all honesty it is a fair update

But I ll adress this one issue to the admin crew if they can and will read it. Creating updates out of the blue without consulting...or better telling us about their arrival is in my humble opinion wrong.
We must basically interpret things on our own and while doing it loads of ppl make mistakes...also it ruins ppls gameplays or at least make them unnecasarily mad.

We can all agree that this update was needed. Too many ppl having only mercs in strike appeared and causing probs to decent blokes with super-consisted defence.

However dropping it out of the blue...I can tell you on my own case...I created 3 mils additional supers...in defence...thinking that would solve the probs...when it hit me they actually need to be attacks supers...and not only...supers in general...(ppl untrained spys put them into defence bought mercs and back to spys...)
This is not the first update that caused such probs...the more XYZ and suspicious are those in times of wars...(mostly big ones because there is always a war going on in sgw and sometimes we know it and sometimes we dont) but mostly in big wars some probs arise...or admin just wants to add smth new...I think that is great...but what happens in war when such an update comes out of the blue!
- 1. some ppl are working with admin and therefor know the ins and outs of these updates (like for instance EnterTheLion) they can then prepare for this update better then others who just got it into their hands and need to adjust...while certain ppl are basically "warned"in advance
- 2. another problem may be that some ppl decided to wage war with XYZ strategy and perhaps they wouldnt if that strategy was not possible to use...then update comes in who basically again disables the use of that particular strategy and it looks to a guy (alliance) that relied on that strategy as if admin was picking sides...
That is not the case, or at least I would hope to beleive so...

But to avoid such probs I think that some time-field needs to be given....in which ppl have a chance to review the upcomming updates and prepare for them.
There will be a lot less nagging, mistakes, perhaps even bugs with that approach.
Perhaps there are some gaps in update and community or someone from it anyway would have noticed it adress the issue and so the update wont come out at all...or would be delayed fixed/adjusted then released...
It would also bring more WHO IS MORE SMART, OR WHO CAN ADAPT BETTER, HAS BETTER STRATEGIES way...how come...because we would all know what is coming some would adapt some not...as in nature the more evolved or at least the one who adapted comes better off.
But by throwing nukes...not telling they are coming a lot of XYZ situations may happen just because ppl were not prepared.

That is my opnion on that matter. Otherwise I think that this particular update is good and was needed although it hurts me in this case (since i had 7 mils mercs and 50k attack supers Toon_PDT_22 )

That would be all

Sorry man, it was just decided on the last admin chat. The entire room was asking Forum to do something about the 'merc problem', so this was his fix. :-)

Well I can no longer count the number of times we have requested the Admin Chats be posted for all to see. Or at least some minutes of them.

Every change no matter how small it seems can have much larger consequences. Especially when players are in war.

A one week notice or even 2 days does not seem like it is unreasonable to expect?

I am not disagreeing change was needed just the surprises again.

I did like the suggestion before about having a ratio of mercs vs regular and super.

Like 1:1 Regular and 10:1 Super. I see the harshest came into play 1:1 super and same type. For those of us with big armies and decent UPs this is great I do not know about the smaller or medium guys.

I personally love this update but I agree with SVaRuN that something that can change your attack & defense system in the way this update does should be informed before making it work.
I don't say admins should consult us in every update. In fact, they could create locked topics with information when updates are not open to debate. But some info in advance (for the ppl that can't go to the admin chat) would be nice.

I don't really like this update...

what do you want I do now with 6 millions def merc???

that break all my game.
Also, if I were adverted in the good timing, maybe I were able to goes to raid again without being hurting when I try to bought the merc.

First off, great post Svarun.
Totally agree.

I think it was needed, but time to adapt strategies would have been nice.

The reason presented in the chat was mainly that mercs are support units, so all merc strikes defeat that idea. The old way made farming and massing too cheap.

Its been like that for ages
A few new people decided to jump aboard and give it a try now everyones getting attacked and don't wanna up defenses
Just means im gonna come aback with a bigger strike and hit the same people for the same naq and loose a bit of profit then they can moan some more

Yes why? There have been some rulers that have had purley merc armys in history so why not me? Why not just double the price for ascension while we're at it?

Here is the thing though, lately, attack mercs have been rather difficult to attain, correct? They disappeared from the market nearly instantly. Now 5 mil(I believe) appear every turn, but you can't just go up and grab them unless you have an army for them to support. So this was also a way to combat people who bought all the mercs at the start of every turn and then went off and did some free farming.

but I only have 5k att mercs and cannot even buy anymore. I have 100k super attackers, but I also have 250k def mercs and only 150k super defenders so is that why I cannot buy anymore att mercs?

thats 250k super/super trained units
unless your LG you can only have around the same amount to tie in.
only LGs and above can get more than 100% mercs

Mercenaries
You can only have 105.00 percent (base of 25 plus 80 percent in upgrades) of your trained troops as mercenaries.
Beyond that, you do not have enough troops loyal to you to ensure compliance to your orders.
You now have:
2200722 Trained Mercs.
4000000 Trained Military Units.
You can have a maximum of 4,200,000 Trained Mercs

thats mine, does yours
there is still a merc limit.
