Where SGW is going

I hope I have put this in the right section.

Have you ever wondered where SGW is going? Where will it be in say 10 years time?

Well, I reckon that it will be around for ages in one form or another.

I can see 2 things happening:

1.
The main is now beyond the point of ever reseting to clear out all the inactives and multi's and what have you. This would cause too many players to stop playing. A lot would be unwilling to rebuild their account.
This game earns quite a bit of RL money for admin so they would not want this. So the game is most likely never to be reset. Admin will have to delete inactive accounts some other way.

2.
The actual Stargate theme itself might start becoming old (stress the might, lol) and stop attracting new players to the game and start loosing current players bit by bit. Until eventually admin is no longer earning much money from SGW, if at all.
I think admin might avoid this by essentially giving SGW a new face.
That is leaving the workings of SGW as it is but changing the name of the game and all the "things" in it (that is, the races, MS, weapons, everthing) to whatever the "hot topic" (speaking science-fiction of course) for the next decade or so is. Since most players of this game watch Stargate, from what I have heard. Then this change would likely be a welcome change since they will most likely be watching whatever the new popular Sci-fi show for the next decade will be.

Remember we are talking about in quiet a few years time. Stargate is still far too popular at the moment for option 2 too happen. If admin did that then they would be committing business suicide.

Anyway thats just what I reckon might be the future for SGW.
What do other people think?

personally i dont think the ganme will be around for ages, due to the fact it is to one dimensional and never has changed significantly.

I have been wondering how this game will be affected by the MMORPG SG:Worlds. Of course that is if they actually get the game into production and don't mess it up like that previous SG-1 game. However, many of us have devoted a lot of time and made many friends here. I, for one, will play both games, if the other is completed.

Personally, the main reason I play is my alliance and the spammers on this forum. Community plays a huge role in my choice to continue.

That being said, I don't sit around asking to be farmed.

IMHO it will slowely die out...one of the bigger axes in the sgw will leave or disapear causing the other side to take over the whole place...which will bring sucky game and then slowely but surely ppl will leave.

I give the game 1 more year tops

I see the game being taken on by a 3d gaming company who will introduce a new side too the game.

a none stop 24/7 no reset 3d game inviroment using the same but improved system of stats that we have now but having it in a 3d universe.

maybe at first this will resemle elite for us older gamers a very low polly 3d enviroment using single line gfx but with alot o txt.

I myself would love too see my strike clash agiasnt a big defence in some sort of 3d renderd batttle

and seeing your mother ship fleets attack a planet with 30,000 defence stations. now that would be fun !!!!

Imagine entering the Omega Quadrant of the universe in your mothership and seeing all the other members of omega in that quadrant as solar systems.
I myself wouldnt stay long :P

anyone here any good at modding the elite engine ?

i agree text based games can only last so long before more graphics/visuals are needed to keep people playing and to attract new players

I dont think everyone plays this game because they like Star Gate, I had only seen the film once as a kid and knew nothing about it really before playing it. I just got into because my friends did. I dont think the Star Gate bit of this game is the thing keeping us here. Well it isnt for me anyway.

I am with BadWolf on this one, I have only seen the movie and just got into it as my friends where playing it as global combat had been banned on our school network.

I am not keen on the idea of 3D, I like the simplicity of this game.

I would like to maybe see pictures [ but bloody nice ones, not the sort of pics we have now * BWG Rolls Eyes * ]

Maybe abit of movement ? like pics of men being trained etc. Or a ship flying off when you send your MS out.

Thats where I would like to see the game going but lets wait and see.
