racist over steriotypes?

i play online in c&c 3 and there's so many racists there, when i ask why, they reply with total steriotypes. its the most dumb thing in the world!!
you cant judge an entire country or race on what you think they're like, you have to meet at least a few people before you can make any form of decision and anyone who doesnt is just stupid.
one example i came across was a guy who was racist toward irish, which you may have guessed is what i am (irish, not racist). so i asked him what was wrong with them, his reply was a list of steriotypes, all red haired, all drunk etc. which is rediculous and completely wrong!! (sorry to burst some of your bubbles about the drunk bit)
another guy joined in with stupid uninformed nonsence that we're all stupid, we have no money(both of whitch is completely wrong), we dont use nucular energy(we dont have to) and several others.

sorry for the rant but it just really pisses me off when people are blatantly ignorant and steriotypical and especially racist, i feel like punching them in the face for it, and since they havent perfected the virtual punch yet i have to vent another way, thus this post.

so does anyone here make uninformed decisisions about their opinion of an entire country or race? (i do hope not)

p.s. if any mod feels that any of this is innappropriate feel free to edit, i just had to say it that way at least once

I'm Irish and I only know like 3 ginger people.
It's the same everywhere.. everyone has stereotypes of people who are of another race or from another country.
I don't care what race or what country they're from as long as they're nice.
There will always be racism as there will always be idiots around. Fact.

Stereotypes are annoying, but sadly humans fear the unknown so we would rather make up crap then learn the truth.

You've heard nothing unless you've been on the old Tribes servers. I've found that most online-games have their own culture, and (some servers) of tribes happened to revolve around finding the most ludicrous racial slurs googleable and cobbling them together into an ignorant wad of self-mockery ... I think it got so bad a web-comic even alluded to it. <_<

However, I would like to be sure we separate racism from stereotyping. I see the first as always a negative - but I find that stereotyping has both positive and negative sides, for there is often some truth to it - while racism has nothing but hate.

All unfortunate, but the last especially (from a word and not societal standpoint), for it has been distilled and butchered the most.

I have actually asked a number of people who use the word "gay" in an "insulting manner" what it meant and they had no idea apart from it meaning homosexual and most people would (should) know what it really means.

Aye - the hijacking of gay, and queer especially, always makes me rather furious. The ignorance that accompanies such a takeover is however, the real disease.

in shool if you were called gay the comeback was always "yess i know im happy"

Ohh and Spacey, you would have to be pretty "mentally challenged" to be racist, so i dont think it needed changing.

But yeah racism sucks.
