I have several attack planets at the moment, but the cost to upgrade them is very different. The one with the best stats is the cheapest to upgrade. It is also the one that I stole recently. Comparison below

Planet Attribute: + 5,934,600,000 Attack. INCREASE ATTACK POWER BY: level for 16,956,000 Naquadah per next increase
(size Huge)

Planet Attribute: + 4,096,800,000 Attack. INCREASE ATTACK POWER BY: level for 20,484,000 Naquadah per next increase
(size normal)

They also have different defenses and one was made in Pergatory. Not sure if either of those conditions should effect cost increase. The person I stole it from is a fellow Prior so I don't think ascended or not is an issue.

All my planets have similar cost structure to the second one. Whenever I steal a planet it seems to have a cost structure similar to the first one.

that is probably due to size... the production per facility is higher the larger the planet is...

No its cheaper when they are smaller, and cost more as they get bigger.

the power of a planet (in this case attack) is equal to number of facilites * size multiplier

the cost of each facility increases slightly for each one you put on there

since huge multiplier is 1.7 and normal is 1.4 you can see that the huge one will have the same or more power with less facilities

Shouldn't this thread be in the Newbie/ FAQ Forum? As seeing this not a bug and more of a consern(spelling?).

actually, there isnt need to move it, since the problem is covered in the topic we linked to, so we'll close it instead...
