confirmation of msg opened

Im tired of people saying I get to many msgs I dont even read them. How can this be I look forward to my msgs So I think there should be a confirmation that the msg was opened and possibly read.

A simple Meassages(Unread) would do. Meaning if you have for example 20 messages in your inbox and 4 of those are new/unread it would look like this:
Messages: 20(4)

Well the ones that say they don't read their messages are the ones that like to farm/hit people for naq and just get sick of reading people either complaining or threatening them so they just don't read them and anything important is over msn/forums.

please inform me how that works if I send to someon in aol and Im on bellsouth.net that I can tell my msg was read? deleted? Please feel free to enlighten me. I must be daft.
