tauri - 25% strike bonus
tech: small % of the time on attack you will do an attack and take no losses or weapon damage

asgard - 25% def bonus
tech: hologram - small % of the time on defence the enemy will hit a hologram instead of you. you take no losses or weapon damage for being hit that attack

replicator - 25% covert % anti-covert bonus
tech - after battle, a % of your killed troops rebuild themselves into what they were
they also get a 10% dicount on covert and anti-covert levels

goa'uld - 25% income bonus
tech - on attack, a % of dead enemy units are converted into your own.

personally i like replis (hence y i chose them when i started) but in the end up really up to u to choose

Unfortunately, nowadays there really isn't all that much of a difference.
There is a severe lack of the old RPing, and unless you do not plan on ascending - that 25% race bonus will disappear soon enough, to be replaced by the generic Prior, Incarnate, Messiah etc. one.

I am personally partial to the replicators, as back when covert was a real powerhouse, they had a niche gamestyle that was both fun to RP, and fun to execute - and of course, playing them for over a year (before ascending) did much to fuel my bias :P

The asgard however, are generally viewed as the 'best' - since you can't go amiss with such a passive but powerful defense bonus - and the hologram continues to be feared - even in this day and age of ascended accounts.

But really, you can't go wrong.

I have to disagree, I find Goa'uld are the best of the non ascended races. I have been them for a while now. The advantage is that when you mass someone, you actually can gain some units from the massing depending on losses. Also if you are ACing someone, you will gain UU and when you are raiding, if they had a defense recently, but not now, then you will get extra UU.

But really, the Gould tech isn't that much better than repli (Get a few dead units back) - or even tauri (percent chance no casualties) - and while the income bonus may be nice, at this point in the games life, you should be making well over your TIP from farming.

Since most n00bish accounts have little/no defense, the strike bonus from Tauri isn't to important - not nearly as important as the potential war aid from a covert/defense boost should you find yourself on the receiving end of some farmers/massers.

I stick by asgaurd (though i'm nano-ti myself :P )

but you see, I am into the Anti Covert attack, so I am killing with 0 defense, so I don't lose supers. So hence the replicator's ability is useless. But if it is right after they have been massed and just lost their defense, they will still have trained defense supers, just without weapons. I will be killing htose and converting them into UU.

Look at it purely mathematically.
the special techs are marginal in what really makes up a race.

Imagine what your army should look like if you got 1 mil units
Probably around 150k defenders, 150k spies and the rest are miners (since you'll keep a low strike for raiding)

and now look which race will get you the best advantage
obviously the income bonus
