ITT: We talk about nostalgia!

Here I am, early afternoon, just out of bed and a tad hungover, but merry none the less. I sit and recline and remember a conversation I had last night with Buck about the 'good' old days of SGW. It was early March 2005 when Plumbersmack was rank one, chased closely by an eager Psi Kiya Trist (whom we all seemingly had problems identifying the gender of! Or maybe that was just me

) Anyway, it's been two and a half years since SGW all began, and like a heroin addict, I've never quite been able to release myself from the drug that is the game. i think largely because I've met some grand people, and some really fun times playing but there's something extra in it. I can't quite figure out what it is, and the closest I get is referring to it as nostalgia.
I know there's still a couple of real old school players about, who've seen it all, the rise and fall of empires and the coming and going of influential players, and those who would be able to shed a memory or two so come on up and post! I want memories, and I want to hear them through the eyes of others to truly test this sense of nostalgia when I think back to 2005. What was memorable? What would you have changed? Who was your first CO? Who was your first friend in SGW? When was your first massing? Who was the earliest rank 1 player you can remember? etc. All these questions
Dusty.

Well the most important events of 2005:
OoC vs TA/EPA
Replicators being in top spots
The night when a major bug gave free covert level, and the text said it was courtesy of tokra
SilentTodd being rank 2, having _Apophis__ as commander, who was ranked 1.
When sabb could wipe all your weapons, I felt it when I farmed mouth of the tokra.
Everyone jumping after _Apophis__, but after that Omega, new alliance at that time, decided to go after him, as I said, AFTER Omega did almost all the work
The 3 libras.
Bahamut being, with Apocalypse Ra, the kings of Quantum first wave.
2k UP being huge UP, that was in first Q wave.
The creation of AK, with Saturnine, Bahamut, and...you Louis!!! Can't remember what was the name of alliances that merged in...I'll check my archives he he
EK/AK split, dont remember the reason, only the plague operation that came after to punish them lmao

When I had power, hard to believe lol. Being in the Unnatural Selection, and all of us having hot shot coverts back when covert actually had power. I joined in Feb. 2005 and have seen many things, most of my current friends are from the VGC which was a powerhouse alliance back in the day, then VGC kind of merged with many US members and DD was started. I do not really play main now, but I plan on playing q this upcoming wave.

seemingly on topic

the era of quantum (starting in 1hour&1day) is 'old skool rulz' where the setup is very similar to march or so 2005...
some stuff is not identical of course, but its pretty close...
not the same as the 'old days' but if nothing else a flashback to simpler days

well, i remember when UU only cost 50 mil a k, lol. my first CO was flake, first friend was also him, lol, my first real alliance was the Dark Dominium. and i remember when dianalyn helped me buy SS, i got it for around 20k, spent like 11-12k of my own. a naq steal of about 20 mil was great for me, lol. oh those were simpler times. and i know what you mean about sgw being like a drug, ive "quit" twice, but always kept my account and came back.

Hobbes led VGC, it was mainly an Asgard alliance.

I remember a time before Omega existed...'nuff said.
I remember seeing ascension come out (not actually ascending as I wasn't one of the great players) and then working for months to get my account ready to ascend (got within 100 ranks twice before I got to g&r). I remember buying a mothership the day they came out (sold most of my attack and defense, but I didn't care lol). I remember bragging about spy 17. I remember fighting the OoC (second time, first was before my time) and I remember how freaked out everyone got when the GA was formed.
Twas a good year guys and gals, lets hope every year is as good as that year was...I have a good feeling this year got pretty close

Wasn't at all partly responsible for that.
