It technically is a nicer version of MSN, just with a different name.

I could do that with a patch
WLM isn't as "homely" as Msn but if you get the right patches it's the best out there.
Edit: I found this on a site I visit for new stuff for Msn/WLM :
"MSN Messenger x.x or Windows Live Messenger 8.0 on Windows XP/Vista => forced upgrade to Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178.
MSN Messenger x.x on Windows 95, 98, ME or 2000 => forced upgrade to MSN Messenger 7.0.0820."
The reason for this is -
"In order to address the reported webcam vulnerability present in MSN Messenger 6.2, 7.0 (minus 7.0.0820), 7.5 and Windows Live Messenger 8.0, Microsoft will today force users of these outdated clients to install Windows Live Messenger 8.1 as part of this month's "Patch Tuesday".
Because older Windows versions aren't supported by 8.1, the compulsory update affects only those on Windows XP. Other users will soon, at an indefinite date, be forced to update to a fixed version of MSN Messenger 7.0"
If you want the link to this site just pm me and I'll link you up, it has all the best stuff for WLM/Msn
