Behold! I have done it - Are you in the Top?

Behold! With a 4 trillion covert, I managed to do this:

TOP 20 ALLIANCES
[DD, Omega/Alpha/Pi, TL/TG, TDD, TA, AE, TJ, DTA, AK, AB, EPA, TE/M, TDO, TO, BWP, {+}KT]
Total Members: 611
Total Units: 24,823,092,382
Average Army Size: 40,626,992

Defintion:
In order to determine the top players (in army size), you'd have to find a list of all the players and find the max. However, this is not practical.

Therefore there are 3 other methods. First of all, you can random sample. However, this is pointless and your sample would be unrepresentative of the population.

The second method is taking the top 500 players and getting their army sizes. Once again, many of the larger players like to keep away from the top ranks.

Finally, I can take the top 20 alliances because larger players might tend to stick in the top alliances and temporarily get a huge covert and get all of those army sizes. With the aid of Excel 2007, I was able to get a map of each top 20 alliances (their total sum, average, standard deviation) and devised the total sum and average as well as member number.

Thus, I have defined, for this article, the "top" as in the players in the top 20 alliances. It is not accurate, but should be a good representation of actual numbers.

Normal Distribution of Top Players:
I also have standard deviation of all the members in the top 20 alliances. However, this is privileged information.

From this, you can assume normal distribution of these so called 611 top members and determine whether what percentile you are in of these top (whether you are in the top 10%, bottom 40%..etc).

Perhaps, in the near future, I will release this number. But for now, it will remain in my hands and some of the TJ highers. :-D

Total Size of Game:
There are many players. However, I am sure the top 600-or-so players will represent atleast 50% of the total army size of the game.

Thus, I am suggesting that the total size of the game is approximately 50,000,000,000. This is a suggestion/educated guess and there is no data to support this assumption.

Disclaimer:
Army size changes constantly. Once the average army size reaches 75 mill and the cap is still in place, the only legal growth should be UP. If Forum releases the game's total UP, we can extrapolate where the total size of the game is at any given day.

Once again, this is my definition of "top". I know plenty of people significantly above average not in the top 20 alliances. However, this is the easiest method.

So, are you in the top? Are you above average of the top 20 alliances?

Any suggestions to this data? Any explanation. Please do note, I will not release individual alliance information as well as standard deviations because that is privileged information (for myself and TJ highers).

Image the spies required for the top coverts.

S T I's army size only took me 6 mill spies.
The top 4 + a few others took 12 mill spies.

I've made bigger losses in the game. I believe I have lost a total of 21 mill so far in the game.

So, care to give us army sizes and stuff ?
Not allowed to post other players stats, so no, he won't. You want to find out, get more covert.

With out saying how much would anyone be able to answer: Who has the largest army size in the game?

I've seen a few large armies, Just wondering who had the largest.

Draco.

S T I had the largest army size by a landslide (I believe it was 50 mill advantage).

Read the disclaimer. I will not release information.

Rank & Total Army Size. Coefficient Correlation: -0.742

This means that there can possibly be a good negative relationship between rank and total alliance army size (It is negative because the lower the rank means the higher the rank).

Wow, that's really cool. Is it actually a normal distribution? My guess is that it isn't a bell curve, but I don't know. Anyway, that's really, really awesome :)

The only thing SD would give is an 'idea' of where the top player is, army size wise.

Why not just give an unknown confidence interval between 60-75%, then no1 would be the wiser. You could choose your own interval, and that would still give a good indication to people about where they fall. While keeping the top ranked army size pretty buffed against interpretation...

'Above average' and 'below average' really aren't helpful to anyone, given the game is expenential. (to a point)

Oh yeah, and you dont take into account the fact that much of the uu created by UP would be killed\lie in abandoned accounts. Which is why the game size isn't fluid, and a rather irrelevant figure given those points.

Good work..
You should put the details into SPSS, instead of excel.

a graph, with total army size / rank and a second one with average army size/rank wouldnt give away the hidden data, as the exact ranks would have to be guessed, and names wouldnt be listed...
