New unit type

Just a ballpark idea here.
Have a new unit type called "diplomats" or something of that kind.
You train em, and there power relates to nox-type insurance. Maybe the more you have, the longer your realm is protected against attacks. Along those sorts of lines. Or maybe their percentage of your total realm size (population not including mercenaries) can be the related to Naq/uu you recover from an attack.
If this is an old idea, i wouldn't mind the link, i did have a quick look but turned up nothing.

bump for an interesting idea. As it stands, wide open to abuse (the rich could make themselves even more untouchable than they are now).
Maybe one diplomat with equal benefit to all (%age chance of being ineffective / delaying / prevented attack?). Ineffective against players you've attacked in the last x days. MORE effective against players you haven't attacked in the last x days.
Cheap/expensive enough that most "active" players would be able to afford one). Or don't sell them. Earn them. Have a "train diplomat" checkbox that drains a %age (not a fixed amount of naq - the richer you are, the more expensive a diplomat is) and he takes a few thousand turns (month? more?) to appear.
Can be targeted for assassination by coverts...
(the guys (KUDOS!) who code this thing must be having nightmares by now

Yeah i must say that I would not expect this idea to be implemented soon, if at all. I could foresee a lot of problems with finding balance in it, and it would add an whole diversity to the game that could rupture the already fragile balance the game is on.
But I do like the development of this idea, I think (as much as people tend to disagree) expansion and improvement is the only way to keep this game going, but it has to be done in the right areas, and at the right pace.

Why not just train more deffense units?
