Most people realise that one of the ways to tuck away excess cash that for whatever reason you don't want to spend on building, is to buy weapons since you only lose about 10% when you sell them (say maybe you're trying to save up 200b to go from level 25 to 26 cov...)

But, what happens to your excess weapons if you get massed? Say you have 2m troops and 4m weapons? Do the weapons *all* get destroyed? Or if the troops get wiped out before the weapons are destroyed do the weapons continue to die if they keep hitting your "zero" troops? Been massed a few times but I've always had roughly equal numbers of weapons/troops so am curious what happens...

Well usually your weapons will be destroyed first and if you buy an extra attack weapon they all get damaged, its the same for defence all you weapons receive damage regardless of wether theyre being used or not.
So yeah you lose all the weapons if you get massed

You lose 20% when selling your weapons, unless I'm mistaken. And your weapons (all of them, whether you have enough def units or not) are destroyed long before losing all the def units you can lose (unless you only have a few units).

No, you lose a little over 10% on weapons. About 40% on untrained mercs. Weapons 10% is an acceptable loss if you need to save up for a short while and your bank's full. Bit of a pita if they get sabbed or massed away though...

You takes your chances...

Obviously the best way is to do a bit of trading on the market, trade naq for stuff that can't be "stolen", then sell it back when you got enough, but that's a whole other ballgame...

actually Lucky Starr was right. you loose 20% when selling weapons.
and to clairfy, you lose 50% when you sell untrained mercs so they are even worse (although they they are 100% safe)

and yea, if you get massed all your def weapons will get destroyed... regardless of if they are manned or not as they all get damaged equally

I'd been playing with very rough figures in my head (150 buy 135 sell). But you are correct it's 167 buy and 134 sell, which is indeed 20%

Mercs are definitely 40% though... - 1500 buy 900 sell.

Being unkillable I suppose um's are the only option without the risk of investing it in weapons. Still, 60% of something's a whole lot better than 100% of nothing.

If you wanted you could send money to friends if you have SS and they could look after it for you

Indeed... I like to fly solo and have done so for some time, but now that I am nearing the end of the path to 1st ascention of course I will need to call upon a few friends...
