Kevin Rudd all the way.

Finally, an intellegent PM.

By the way, show a little more respect for your new PM as of tomorrow.

Perhaps self mod your self up there.

Personally I like Howard, but I know the chances of him being retained are very slim.

I don't think Rudd (or his party) has the experience to run our country.

Due to the fact I'll be working while everyone else is voting tomorrow and getting mobbed by pamphlets, I voted today instead.

I also got to see my local Member for Labor, lovely guy. I'd let him kiss my baby (if I had one).

Intellgent PM?

One thing that I read Kevin Rudd is supporting is spending 1.5 B $ in Clean Coal Technology, while neglecting to build any nuclear powerplants. Then he accusses that nuclear power will KILL the coal industry. Hasnt he heard of EXPORTING!!

Clean Coal Technology? PLEASE

Kevin Rudd is a terrible PM that will screw up our economy if elected. =]

Jonny all the way.. to bad im to young to vote =[

Bob Brown will be PM of Aussieland.

Ralph Nader will Replace Bush in the States.

The Ents and Mother Nature's plan to take over is comming ever closer to fruition...

That aside i'm still conflicted. The world Economy is more volitile then its ever been and the Liberals have managed to do a good job in that department but have been neglegent in others and closer to home.

Work Choices has hurt several people I know and so i've seen first hand its negative effects on those I care about. For several years Labor has been lead by incompentent leaders and benches, a faction for each three or so members and such a conflict of interests combined with the Unions has meant its been until Rudd, its been utterly impossible to manage and unify. Rudd seems to have quelled a lot of that where Latham/Beazy/Crean had failed.

So to me its basically Is Rudd everything him seems to be or Do I go with the Devil I already know...

Oh where to begin!

Firstly, the IR laws...

Back in 2005 I was one of the peaceful protesters marching to stop the introduction of AWA's(Australian Workplace Agreements).
No violence whatsoever, just approx 60,000 people marching through the streets of Melbourne displaying their banners and flags stating their concern for the future, and with good cause.

I have spoken to people who are very Pro-Howard who don't fully understand the repercussions of the AWA's introduction into the workplace.

When once you were payed a fair award wage for your hard work:
$18.5 per hour for weekdays,
$22.5 per hour for Saturdays
$25 per hour on a Sundays
Approx $45 an hour for Public Holidays.

Your employer now has the power to make you sign an AWA which states that you will now be payed a flat rate of just $18, $16 or even $12, whatever they want, even on weekends and public holidays.

Brilliant for businesses and Employers, but in the end, the workers suffer, we get paid less when we are worth more.

I know this is a fact as I have experienced it when I applied for a job a few months back and found out that that is how it worked. I have seen this happen in many places over the last 6 months, and its a joke.
The Liberals make out that the employee has a say in what they will be payed, but I assure you, most employee's will tell you what you will be payed, and you know how it is, we are all expandable...

Kevin Rudd will abolish these AWA laws, and give back the award wages we all entitled to.

Others I will state in dot points:
*Federal Labor will revolutionize Australia’s internet infrastructure by creating a new National Broadband Network. This includes connection speeds up to 40 times faster than current speeds. (huge selling point for me)
*The boost to education and hospitals
*The interest he has taken in global warming(as opposed to John Howard's 'I don't care' attitude).
*The plan to ease water shortages across Australia with a $1 billion investment in water recycling, desalination and major storm water capture projects.
*The plan to keep a permanent watch on petrol prices by appointing a new Petrol Commissioner and give the ACCC the power to monitor grocery prices and to publish regular surveys of prices to inform consumers. (As you know, we are currently paying double taxes on our petrol...for no reason)
*Labor will inject $600 million to dramatically slash waiting lists for elective surgery in Australia's public hospitals.
*Implement a phased withdrawal of our troops from Iraq.
*The man is fluent Mandarin! Have you ever tried to read a Chinese paper before? He can... And he is as Australian as they come. Very smart man.

I just wish that more people were interested back in 2004, then this goon would not be our current PM :(

While I agree about when you asy not many people know about the IR laws, it stil isnt as bad as people say it is. Under a Labour goverment, there will be more money but less jobs. With howard, he has maintained a low unemployed rate.

The internet infrastruce is another point i half agree. While I agree that its good that someone is finally doing something about austrlaias terrible internet setting, its stil a small thing.

Now the one major point that you have just stated about Rudd giving a **Filtered** about global warming, I see it as having a negtive effect rather than positive.

Nuclear power IMO and MANY other people is the BEST alternative to lower carbon emiisons from coal powered plants. Investing billions of dollers into "clean coal tefchnology" and [No swearing/masking. Spacey edit out.] makin solar power plants is a terrible idea.

i cbf explaining in details now so ill do it later

rudd will destory australi.. give me 1 or 2 days and ill post proper post.

In my opinion, doing something is better than doing nothing at all and avoiding change.

Our economic growth is great at the moment, but the little people are suffering. When you say that "it's not as bad as it is made out to be", its clear that you haven't been effected by the change. In order to understand just how much impact it is having, you need to be talking to the little people earning a minimum wage in this country. The ones who do the jobs no one else wants to do. Be it primary industries, factories or process workers. All of their wages have been slashed, yet they still have to pay double taxes on their petrol. Their grocery bills are rising and their electricity and water bills will more than double next year under the Howard government.

The majority of Australians are not multi-millionaires, therefore the way Howard is running the show, the lower class will suffer while the rich get richer.

It's time for a change.
