Power?

I have of recent been studying business management, and my lecturer has recently asked us two questions..
1. WHAT is the difference between a business manager and a leader?
2. What do we consider to be power?
Well...my response was..
1: I considered a leader to be a person of more personal prowess, someone who has a lot of attributes that encourage people to follow that person. Such as Charisma. A manager is someone who does not necessarily have those qualities, but has the formal position granted to them, which make people follow them.
2: Power, this was a difficult one..I originally split power up into personal and social power. Where as personal power is obvious will power, and endurance or physical power, which of course you measure personally. SOcial power is your ability to have power over others, or to affect things external to your person. Obviously the two clearly inter link.
I was very right on the first one..the second..i was sorta right..but according to my course..
Power: 2 types.
Formal:
Reward: the ability to give rewards grants power.
Fear: The ability to punish/form consequences.
formal: Power granted through position and general status. (The ability to make decisions that effect people/results of other things.
Personal:
Referent: Charisma...personal attributes.
Expert: The power of knowledge and wisdom.
Anyway...comments discuss...im looking forward to what other people consider power to be, what they thing the difference between management and leadership is...
