A thread about cheats.

Once upon a time, in a place much like this, a forum user called Nuto vixen was bored one day and decided to start going through the ranks and singling out those who's accounts were banned due to cheating and created a thread containing their names in an effort to name and shame them in our beloved community.

This isn't about name calling or an effort to increase slander in the forums, but I think that many people who are caught cheating these days are just banned, and some still lurk on the forums claiming it was all a mistake by Admin and it wasn't fair.

Why not create a thread which the game admins post who they recently banned and why. This way there isn't this 'well I was never told', and we all know what becomes of all the suspected cheat threads.

Comments?

i agree, the only thing that closely resembles this is this thread

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=70692

but that isnt updated by the Game Admin, aka Admin Mark.

It would be nice to see him update/post in it

We had one, but it was removed. Called the thread of shame or something like that.

I'm pretty sure it was taken down because when someone is banned the reason is visible to them when they try to log in, if the field is filled out, and mods can see the logs and read the user notes.

If the argument is presented that "that's just it: if the field is filled out, the thread doesn't rely on filling out a field", but even with said thread it doesn't mean that those banned will check it, just like there might be an occurrence where the field isn't filled out.

The banned field is probably the best thing, between a thread or field, as people read it when they try to log in.

The thread concept is less for the person who was banned, and more for those who were doing the right thing and tipping off the admins to a suspected cheat. It would be nice to know what becomes of every cheat investigation.

It would also be a nice way to clear peoples names. For example.

Suspected cheats:
a
b
c

Cheats:
d
f
w

Those cleared of cheating claims:
p
g
q

See where I am going with this?

And it was the Thread of Shame, and it was my thread, and it did a good job while it was relevant. The thing is now there are so many of them that I'm sure the forums would have a melt down if we tried to fit them all into a post. I suggest the bigger offenders be made public, as well as their crimes against the games.

one problem with you list... what if someone cleared once, suddenly starts cheating?

also, the list would be quite long... currently 2122 accounts have been banned...

Problem is Admin Mark isnt really updating it as he hasnt got a lot of time so he decided to catch x number of cheaters and not catching x/2 number of cheaters and posting them at the other time...

Yeah, my point is it needs to be updated.

There are plenty of people in the game who play plenty of money to boost themselves. I'm sure they would appreciate knowing who has been banned, and what the admins are doing to try and stamp out the main perpetrators and those who like ruining it for the others.

As I said, doesn't have to be ALL the cheats, just the one who actually have had an impact on the game to a larger extent. Maybe those in the top 3000.

Then the list is edited to state that they are in fact a cheat. Simple as that really.
