lets argue what constitutes reality.......

1. the vcr hypothosis: loosely stated that time dosn't flow in a linear form so much as will flow in the form of ripple eddies and currents providing a "play", "stop", "fastforwar", and "rewind"....

2. greater consiousnes hypotosis: maybe our collective existance isn't real so much as someones collective thinking...?

Well, what is reality to you loki? When someone says reality, what does it mean?

I understand the topic however Thal do you expect people to really understand and properly interpret such a debate?

I wouldn't risk it. the response to this thread is evidence enough.

not to mention the fact that all forms of reality are due to perception not anything scientific "I think therefore I am" doesnt really allow for a presentable debate despite how intriguing it is to a select few.

I can doubt, which is a form of thinking, something cannot come from nothing. Ergo something must be doing the thinking. Cogito Ergo Sum.

It's another person proving their existence to you, thats the tricky one.

its all a figment of your imagination. Maybe your making it up maybe some evil scientist is posting it into your brain!

You might not have posted it Corran, your sense could be deceiving you.

There is no proof of the external world Corran. Imagination and the mistakes of sense data do away with it. (I am going a bit solipsist, but meh..all to prove a point.)

You cannot prove your laptop, or the forums exist. Hell..you cannot even prove to me you exist! You could just be a satellite personality, or a fragmented mood existing within my own consciousness trying to get at me. Who knows?

i remember polish sci-fi writer stanislaw lem (author of "solaris" btw) wrote a short story about a scientist who created a bunch of computers with sofisticated ai and linked them together so they were living in 100% virtual kinda "second life".
