Long Way Round? Or Down?

I have just finished watching the long way down, the sequel to the long war round. The first seems better because they have more time and its more lax, whilst the second (long way down) they see far more amazing things, in my opinion...

FOR THOSE WHO havnt seen or heard of either. Basically in 2004 Ewan Mcgregor and his best mate Charlie Brennman (i spelt both of them wrong, im pritty sure) went on a long motor bike ride round the world, from London to New York, they went through france, germany, Czech rep, Slovenia, russia, kazakstan, mongolia, Canada, alaska and finally USA (I missed out a country im sure..), they saw and did amazing things, making myself very envious, not to mention the entire tv series taken directly from their video diaries and camera equipment was VERY GOOD. This was dubbed, 'the long way round'.

Their second outing, I think it was summer this year or last year was from john'o'glocks i think it was, right at the tip of scotland, down to cape town, going through scot's, uk, france, italy, sicily, libia, egypt, kenya, rwanda, sudan, ethiopia and many many more. Once again they did the video diaries with the same team of people from the first. This was dubbed, 'the long way DOWN'. Another wonderful TV series.

I enjoyed both very much, and they have inspired me to do my own trips (with The Iron Duke, and Tom Twin) when we leave uni 2011.

I was wondering, for those who may have seen the series, what did you think of them???

While all the rest sounded very interesting stuff, I feel I must address this part

Alaska is part of the US. You can't be in Alaska and not be in the US. We bought it from the Russians fair and square (though at that price it was practically stolen).

lol..i was using my memory from the DVD of the LWR, and they mention Alaska seperately because they go through canada before going into the main body of the USA.

I understand the distinction, but your wording leaves something to be desired. perhaps "Alaska, Canada, and then back into the US"

Its very good, Mostly due to The motorbikes and ewan.....

However it isnt a patch on any of micheal palins Circumnavigation of the globe, he went around the world in 80 days useing no air transport, He Then did it all again for about 200 days so he could visit all the countries he missed, he then went from the south to north pole...And hes also walked accross the sahara desert, AND walked up the himilayers...

...And he was in monty Python, he was infact the 2nd nicest python...

Round is better, they rushed Down far too much, while good it was just too rushed.
