About commanders. . .
How do I make it so that I do not have any commanders, without making myself a commander over myself? Tip, this is for ChaosGateWars.

Ask your current commander to boot you as an officer.

Aff. Get him to boot you.
If he is inactive (I don't play chaos there may be other ways) I should think you'd be stuck with making yourself CO, and then dismissing yourself.
