I went there over five years ago but heres what I thought of it at the time.

1: It's quite clean, not too many obnoxious smells for someone with a sensitive nose like me. even the homeless people have nice tidy cardboard box's with their shoes set outside so as not to track dust.

It's not too expensive and the museums all around are great especially the old castles. (though some of those aren't museums per say) And then for the geek in you, well, I remember when I was able to buy brand new games that hadn't even come out, only to realize that..well..damn game regions is all I'm gonna say.

Its a nice country actually, many fond memories.

i havent got to travel anywhere yet

but im planing for a trip to visit at least half a dozen countries. starting maybe next year, the year after next more likely. but i'll get there...

and theres suppose to be a hack or crack to break the region limits appy, i dont remember much about it, but im sure i saw it somewhere once.

doesnt matter though, now days alot of the games are cross region--like all of the DS games ive seen in japanese lately, they all said they worked on all region systems. dunno about the other systems, but the DS is a start.

Please don't "rip" customs; it is ethnocentric. Cultural evolution happens over long periods, and what one person thinks is terrible for one may be loved by another.

I would like to avoid someone saying X culture's way of doing Y is stupid, because D culture's way of doing Y is much better, etc, etc.

when visiting ireland make sure you have twice as much money to spend than for anywhere else (we have "rip-off" customs)

I was more referring to when I went to europe before the EU started (one of many Europe Trips) every time I crossed a border via train, the only good travel method for a cross country europe trip, the customs would wake me up at about 3AM demanding my passport.

The weirdest "custom" that bothered me when I went to Madrid was the lack of stop lights, there were round-abouts everywhere. Another custom that I noticed in countries is the abundance of stick shift cars (manual), I could not even drive a stick shift (yes I am a loser ). One last automotive comment is people turning off the engine at red nights, or if they are stopped for only a few minutes. I am not sure if it is true, but I was always told that starting a car wastes around two minutes of of gas so stopping a car for only a few seconds is a waste. I might not be correct, so if someone knows about that please correct me.

It is false Afaik:
Much like the lighbulb myth, the power required to fire up the engine and get the vehicle moving - does not insist upon the same amount of gas as idling and then forcing the car forward. The savings are pretty minimal however, compared to say, killing the engine and gliding to a stop.

If you are FAS'ing you do need to be careful you don't kill your transmission, and of course, if you use power anything, say 'bye-bye';brakes, steering etc. And it can do a number on the battery.

Vancouver and Rome are the best places I have ever been to and would love to live.

Italy likes to eat good fresh food and there were lots of fresh fruit stands at tourist hot spots instead of junk food stands which I found refreshing.
I saw a watermelon stand in Rome with just a mountain of watermelons on offer, thats all. Classic.

The Danes love their cheese and their history. Viking references were all over the country and their love for Hans Christian Anderson was utterly unavoidable. The good thing about Denmark is that you dont need to speak Danish, as most of them speak English... very well.

Canada as a whole was very beautiful, but British Columbia and its rockies was the highlight of the country for me. The most beautiful things I have seen in my life at at that place. Breath-taking, unforgettable. Pictures just DONT do the place justice.


Customs? What customs? Denmark and Italy were very laxed on their security. I could have smuggled a goat over and no one would have noticed.

I'd love to hear from people who have been to India, as I really want to go and always like to hear some feedback. Places to go, what to see and what to stay away from.

I have so many pictures of the places I have gone, and when I get home to show people, it looks so average. You really need to experience things in order to appreciate them.
