Most of the time those 'hacks' are just bugs or whatever that the coding team didn't think of while writing the game. It wouldn't be that hard to defend against. A generic and I suppose a crude example of some of these 'hacks' would be that firefox extension that allowed people to buy large amount of mercs.

Most of those mechanics would be figured out with a bit of time (sometimes a lot) and examination of the source code and how it works. Most of the defense comes from the closed box stuff. Thank god
