They have a choice? Who chooses anything in this world? I choose to be different, because I hate sheep. Everyone else is attracted to fashion and being in some social flock, so act in a way that makes me choose to be different. So I dont REALLY choose anything. No one really has any freedom, just the illusion of it. If you really want to say people have freedom, then go a few years, keeping good friendships and living, without any technology or modern stuff. You wouldnt last. lol..people throw the word freedom around to much these days its lost its meaning.

Religion is no better then following the law. It preaches moral codes and character fibre that ultimately the law preaches to, religion just does it more colourfully and far more friendly. I dont believe in religion i think it is a waste of time, and wrong, because the very thing it is founded upon contradicts itself, it serves an unnecessary purpose. but it does not deny freedom any more then half the things we use in day to day life do.

Would you prefer kids believing that there is a heaven, an afterlife and angels to watch over them, oh and a motivation to be better in life.. or would you prefer them to be different? Who are you to make that judgement? Posting on a forum certainly wont change it, and seeking to, is foolish my friend.

We all debate and make points as friends, I dont think anyone but yourself actually intends to change someone when we post on here, and I certainly hope no one else does. No one on this forum has that right. Science is heavy in the modern world, and people can see the doubt in god enough to make their own mind up. Just have some fun man, dont make it a mission.

I would rather have kids believe in what they want, not in what everyone else wants them to believe. I originally posted here to show my support for the atheists of SGW, but since I'm been accused of trying to take choice away from people I might as well show that if anything I want them to have a choice

thats impossible. Children are imprinted with their surroundings, it shapes their characters. if a child is popular at school, they will for the most part have very little character as they will have a part of everyone else they hung with. A loner will have more of themselves purely because they had no one in their faces implying what is right and wrong. A child cant comprehend a choice as deep as religion mate. There either going to hate it because they were made to participate in it and they no longer want to, so will choose to be an atheist or agnostic, and if you leave them alone they will have it, but they may or may not change their mind when they are an adult. In this day and age, you have many people who are fed religion 24/7 from ages 0-18 but by the time they are 21 they are an atheist, because lets face it, unless you need something or are in trouble, there is little room for God in day to day life in a real moder world.

Choose your words carefully in these forums where I be..im a terror. No only kidding! haha...im not accusing you of anything, God lad I have no idea who and what you are, all I know you could just be posting for a convo. Im debating with you, doing what I do best, dont take it personally :-D I said people dont get choices, how can you take away that what you cant give? lol..that would be contradicting myself.. I dont do such things.. then I said when you thought youd make the effort to spare people a life of religion, well basically i made examples trying to get you to justify properly why you should be that person as it serves a good thing for little kids. Seriously! Just tell me to shut up if it annoys ya that much.

???cant remember silly name.. wrote:what dose an insomniac, agnostic, dyslexic think about all night?

Atheist = someone who DONT believe in god.
God = Admin.

other times I play on games..or make sigs..to pass the hours. I used to just either watch scrubs or play star wars battlefronts.

Re: Thread of unbelief

What High Guard and I mean Semper is that we want to create a society where it is acceptable to be an atheist. :P Read about the life of Bertrand Russell who was an atheist and suffered for it in the 20th century in "modern" america.

Re: Thread of unbelief

Nope I am not on msn right now, I would never get my homework done if I turned it on :P I believe in limited free will which I know is irrational, but I could not function with a determinist mind-set. The theory of government would have to be rewritten if people believed that we are not free.

Re: Thread of unbelief

well i believe in free will to a point..the point where..as long as some person is not ordering to do what you do. (ie. Hitler and the Nazis, or an army sergent) then you have free will to the only degree you can have it.

 what! you cannot mention H Itler or the N azis for some reason! what the hell! Thats outrageous!

The reason we care is because we don't want people around us wasting their life with religion, basically we are trying to create a better society for our children.

aye. all the same: "we want to create a better society and cos we know better we want youse to do what we think is good for youse, and religion is not so youse shall abandon it".
just to let ya know this attitude is responsible for the worst regimes and social disasters in history (nazism, communism, slavery, genocides etc).
can i ask where your arrogance comes from and why you deny ppl FREEDOM?

Actually, Corran, the sad truth of the matter is that most of these atrocities you quote were driven by religion, not atheism. Usually one sects/faith's hatred and intolerance of another faith.

Re: Thread of unbelief

You have to remember though, it's the people running the denomination that turn it into what it is, not necessarily the God or original concept behind the religion.
