I came to you and asked you for solutions. I asked you to help me brainstorm ways to reinstate the faith from the community into the mod team again. Since you couldn't do it, I think we can bring the community itself into this, perhaps they can help you find the solutions.
You know what the biggest problem is? Some of the mods think they they have the definitive solution. They feel that their judgement call is the definitive truth for the community, and they forget that they are actually a part of the community.
They, themselves, are no longer taking part of the community, instead, they're trying to rule it. They are trying to force the changes for the "betterment" of the community, and not actually taking into account what the community wants. This has separated them from the community. There is a very distinct "Us and Them" feeling. They've created their own community outside the community, and then like puppeteers, they sit and pull the strings. Well NO WONDER the community is mad. It's not every mod. But every mod is blamed for it.
And the problem is... some of you even admit you're baised. Some of you simply cannot step back and keep an emotional detachment, everything said to you is a personal insult. With the new system, Jason HANDED you a way to get away from the modding you were doing before. He basically said “instead of demoting the ones that should be removed, I’m going to give you another chance”. And what’d you do? Threw it away.
And it's not all of you. But with the way the new system is, when ONE of you does something the community doesn't like (like, oh, say..... creating multi accounts of forum users you're having a problem with), the whole mod team gets blamed for it.
Some mods, I know, are feeling quite overwhelmed by it all. They have done nothing wrong, they don't talk to the other mods in msn, they have no idea what's going on, but they are getting flamed for things other mods have done. Well good. Hopefully it'll piss you off enough that you'll try to find solutions instead of blissfully ignoring it all so it goes away.
Somehow, miraculously, there hasn’t been any demotions on the team. People have quit, yes, and for good reasons. I see and understand their reasons, perhaps that puts my foot a few feet closer to the door. There are one or two of you, who don’t deserve your posts. And for some unknown reason, Game Admin Jason has decided to promote you instead of fire you. You’re lucky. For now. Till you get thrown to the Lion.
To the rest of the mods: Good luck. I quit. I’m sick of being blamed for the **Filtered** caused by one or two mods who should have been demoted a long time ago, and don’t want to stick around to see how this new administration works out.
What should be really telling to you, right now, is the fact that naming the person who will take over the forums when Pookie leaves is punishable by being REMOVED from the mod team! what kind of dictatorship do we have when the users arn't even allowed to know who runs them? who does the administration have left to answer to? GA Jason? I highly doubt it. The forums are not his main area of concern, and rightly so. He puts other people in charge so he doesn’t have to be. The forums, and the moderators, are a headache he doesn’t need to deal with.
I find it somewhat laughable that I’ve “done a lot for the community” even though for almost half of the time I was a mod I had no internet. I can already see the bias in the new administration, and they haven’t even taken control yet.
To my darling Pookie. I’m sorry. I was going to stay until you left. I find I cannot. I shall instead take the good advice of a darling friend.
