Not all the old guys have left, many of us still make our long winded posts trying to show some wisdom and guidance, but its usually ignored, and insulted or whatever.

Respect is a key issue, as it was already raised, i wont go into it and just say I agree. The game is OLD and everyone takes everything so personally, and everyone is now out for themselves, and don't care about the others. I find that most of my older mates in SGW have a quit, I look over my MSN list and see all these new names, and I wonder who can I trust? Who has my back..

I went from knowing 50-60 people who would support me 100% no matter what, to maybe 4-5.... now not all of those 60 left, but they have become self-absorbed, and its all about the $$$ or trying to get to 150 million units instead of being happy at 100, or even going for 200, etc.

While there are people who still help each other and I wont deny that, or say its completely eliminated, as the older people have grown stronger, they also grew more greedy and in turn shun those who have been with them for along time and sacrificed much to protect them.

Yeah, alot of new people are arrogant and greedy and whatever else, but the older community has also changed and you can't just blame the new guys.

Seriously look around you, in your alliances and ask yourself who really has your back, and who is just looking out for them self and pretending to be your friend, you will be surprised.

Its funny how quickly people will turn on you when it suits their purposes and you no longer fit into their plans. I may not always help the people in my alliance when they ask for it, but i give what support I can.

Alliances used to be about forming communities based on common interests, now those common interests are to be big and strong and crush anyone who dares challenge the might of your alliance. The hypocrisy within alliances these days is astronomical, and that is a real big problem, and causes much hate between groups of people.

Do on to others what you want done on to you.

If you farm hard, expect to be farmed hard back. If you cry about it, you shouldn't be farming. If you mass cause you get farmed, expect to be massed for farming, crying about it means you shouldn't of been doing what you're doing.

If you can't take what you dish out, then don't dish it out. I tire of X alliance massing Y alliance for farming, when X alliance was the people farming Y alliance first. It shows that they think its okay to farm hard, but get insulted when they get hit.

Thats the main reasons for wars these days, it truly is sad, and generally to me, just pathetic.. I admit, I farm, those who ask me to stop hitting them, i stop, if I feel i've taken to much from them and they ask for some back, I give it back.

Yea I want more naq, who doesn't, but you don't need to be a prick to get it, you can still show respect and act nice to people. You don't mass them for asking you to stop, unless its done rudely, you don't go LoL get a better defense noob.

We were all farmed when we started out, and some of us were massed for asking people to stop. I was one of them who was massed for asking someone to stop, and I asked nicely. I knew how that felt and I said i'd never do the same thing. Yet others who have had it done to them, think its ok and bash everyone they can.

To many people take too much personally, the ideals that this is just a game is lost, and with that the respect for each other diminishes and everyone looks to cover themselves because of this.

A short summary.

Lack of Respect, Greed, Hypocrisy, Insulting behavior, Arrogance, and the spirit of gamesmanship and the fact it is just a game. Are what I see wrong with SGW these days.

I guess I could be considered an old player even though i dont think ive ever been a big personality on the forums. ive been playing for just about two years im pretty sure(I joined the forums in january 2006, but i joined the game in novembe 2005). I used to come to the forums a lot to just read people's posts and maybe comment on them. but my visits now have been reduced to a need only basis. I only come here now if i need to buy or sell uu or naq, or to see which alliances are in a war.

I don't really farm too much, ususally get my naq from income. But when I do, i expect to get hit back. when i do get hit back i laugh and say to myself, "nice round, glad that you stand up for yourself." I have never massed someone for hitting me back when i hit them first. I have been threatened to be massed by three different players all ranked in the top 200 when i was ranked 1500 just because one of them stole my planet and i stole it back. That was ridiculous. 3 players to mass one new player...

Respect. Something that isnt seen a lot on the forums is respect. Sure you see some politeness but thats just cuz some people don't want to get massed. There is a general lack of respect to the older players as well as to the newer players. Luckily for me, i had joined the D.o.O. when i first started and I was always shown respect there. When a new player tries to hit me for naq or complains when i hit them, i dont laugh at them... ok i do occasionally chuckle, but if i see that they have no commander, i'll invite them so that i can help them. If i see that they do have a commander, I offer advice. We were all in their shoes once. We need to show them respect as it was shown to us. I remember my first massing. The CoP vs CIA war. TheRook. I told him to be ready to have me in his attack logs with a smilie lol. Ive yet to this day attacked him. he left the CoP alliance, and bam, off the list. People need to not hold grudges. That is just stupid. I'm sorry, but it really is childish. Let's try to get the respect back. Lets teach the new players and take them under our wing instead of insulting them by calling them a stupid noob. Let's help make the community better.

Thats the two cents from an older player that wants the old sgw community back.

lol..pheonix..the problem is money. Because now people have something real to lose. So they care.

People have been put on pedostals for nothing. Moderators were given the title for brown nosing the right admin, and now they have lost that power they are sour.

Newbies are becoming younger and younger, showing the REAL generational gap going on here. I dont know if you have noticed (or if you have the ability to comprehend such a thing.) but there is a real generational gap going on in the UK at least. Ten, twenty years ago, you had respect for your elders, people who had done somthing longer then you. You had respect for generally everyone, unless they lost it. It was a positive thing to show manners, healthy competition and good sportsman ship. I am 18, and I have seen the older ways that someone in their mid-late 20's will have recieved the tale end of. (because I live with my grandparents and more often then not am in communication with someone older then myself.) But I can say that my generation, heavily lacks respect in most senses of the word, the only thing respected is drunkedness and idiocy. It is getting worse and worse the younger people are, because aldults are so shocked by such behaviour and because of laws, they are not allowed/cannot react.

SGW is no different. WHen this game began, more then most players were older. How many people who use this forum are either 25yrs old + OR the very few of us who have been...'educated' properly? With increasing members of a new generation entering the game, with events such as mods leaving and complaining about the administraton, the very people responsible for us all being here (next to MGM and RDA..lol)...people being silly over the addition of ONE market turn... mods becoming anonymous, splitting from the community, which basically REMOVED their presence all together. No wonder the forum is going to pot. The game itself went a long time ago..it was inevitable that the forum would fall to. This has given me an idea actually....

and omeganman, shut up. Your a disgrace to the name Omega and human beings all over the forum, making post's like that. I should hope ETL would not let you get away with such words. Everyone in this forum has a right to post what they want, in as many or as few words as they want, as long as it is not breaking the forum rules. You are disrespecting someone else, breaking one of the most fundamental eticate rules of the forum. If I were a mod, you would be barred from the forums. So your lucky im not.

I never complained about you in what I said. I simply said the freedom you have to 'complain' about other people (it seems as what bothers you in your post), other people have the freedom to 'complain' (your words) about what bothers them. It can be related to: what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

My head may be up my <butt>, but what separates me from you is that I'm willing to listen and hear what people have to say. All you've done is told people that they shouldn't post if they have a lot to say, and used a derogatory comment to refer to their submissions.

If people want to make 2 page posts about something that they want to discuss, why stop them? A common theme is that users felt like they were being ignored, like they weren't being listened to... and you're saying that users shouldn't post and express themself? That seems counterproductive in light of upcoming changes to facilitate communication.

No one here is crying about anything. People are participating in a discussion, and they have the freedom to express themself in whatever way they want to, be that in 'sissy 2 page long posts' or not.

Opinions matter... you need to realize that not only your opinion matters.

Indeed, I have ready every post, novel length or not, because I have interest in what these people are saying on this topic, and I take note of what is being said and make my own conclusions from it.

If you aren't read them, that is your fault, and your problem, however you are merely spamming the thread with insults and not joining into the conversation.
