Re: Deleted accounts
then that ability would need reactivation first...

"Great holy armies shall be gathered and trained to fight all who embrace evil. In the name of the gods, Browsers shall be changed to carry the internet out amongst the peoples and we will spread Firefox to all the unbelievers. The power of the Firefox will be felt far and wide and the wicked users of IE shall be converted to use the true browsers."

Re: Deleted accounts
I think that admin selected the "delete all posts" option when he deleted your account. I made sure to retain the posts when I deleted my account because I didn't want the forum rules to disappear or anything
If an admin wants to change the poster to someone else, I can show them how.

Re: Deleted accounts
I dont know if theres a way to change all at once and not one by one. And theres a problem. I forget some old mod names and now cant even check IP of the deleted ones.

Re: Deleted accounts

Re: Deleted accounts
jack... if you grovel enough, maybe you get baszy to change the poster of those first post in topic by deleted account ones to existing users?

Re: Deleted accounts
The problem is if you give everyone access to the app and something goes horribly wrong then we're not entirely sure where to start looking to fix the problem. If it's just Baszy then at least he knows where he's been in the last day and can narrow down the problem much easier (not to mention we can blame him easier
)
This isn't an incredibly significant problem and it will take a lot of time and effort to fix. Let's leave baszy alone for a bit while he gets the hang of the new settings and let the rest of us settle in, if it still seems that important in a few weeks then maybe we can look at fixing a few of the quicker ones.

Jack wrote:N00b, there's nothing to break and the ability can be abused but that's what mod logs are for, do you not trust your mods enough to do this? If not then you need new mods
And Bazy has been an Admin for quite a while now, if he hasn't gotten the hang of the ACP yet then he is a n00b who will never will, it's a very easy to use interface and easy to learn what does what, you just gotta try.
For those nay sayers that might come back with "what would you know? you're not an admin" true, I'm not and admin here, but I do speak from experience....
It's not a matter of trust. Even I don't have access to everything that's there. As I said, there are very practical reasons for this, I'm sorry if you disagree but it's the way we've decided to run it, none of the other mods mind and either do I. I'm not accusing you or being a n00b and I appologise if that's the impression I gave. As I said, we will look into doing something about the problem if it's practical but it will take time. I'm not sure what more I can offer to do.
Indu and proud of it!!

Re: Deleted accounts
Not that Im lazy, but I do have limited time, and now we are in the middle of changing things, so I dont really want to spend my time on not so important things if I can. Changing the author of the topic starter posts however could be reasonable. If its enough, I can do this.

Re: Deleted accounts
Ya bunch of n00bs.
You can edit a "guest" post's name if you can edit the post.
That said, I have to say that it would be extremely stupid to give all mods admin rights. "If you can't trust them that much, then you need new mods" does not hold. I could just as easily say "If you don't trust all the users enough to give them admin rights, you need new users." Get outta here, you untrustworthy users!
YOR BANND!!!!1111
But, as I've said, you can edit a guest user's name in a post if you can edit that post. In fact, you can't do this with the ACP, there are only two ways to do this. One changes the name, but you can also change the poster of a post, which makes it of the "new poster's" account.
The latter is an advanced mod ability, that only admins have, but can be given temporarily, I suppose. It's not like it matters.
If it does not matter, then one can't call the admins lazy for not doing them. Why won't the staff also edit every grammatical error in a post, and the admins should also make a word filter that has the most common mistakes and corrects them... HAHAHAHA
Signed,
ME
