Re: What in your opinion is 'Dirty Tactics' in a war
I'd have to say that hitting officer's isn't a dirty tactic-but its a different level of warfare...
With regards to the "hit and run" tactics-they may not be dirty, but they sure are cowardly... (I would know, we were declared war on-hit for 2 hours then the other alliance went on PPT, they jumped off today, 4 days later, started hitting again but when I started to hit back they all went on PPT again...) It's viable, and if you were hit first I would even say its fine... But there should be a rule that if you declare war on someone you can't run away when they try to fight back...
</soapbox>

In a game of war the only dirty tactic is breaking the rules or breaking your word... and taking fights to non related servers.
-Officer hits are legit as officers support their CO with UU
-Planet stealing is legit as they support your enemy
-Involving others is legit as whats the point of having allies if your not going to use them.
-descension has to be legit as you can remove a great deal of your enemies power by descending his account. It's kinda like taking out miscile silos
-hit and run is legit particularly when facing a larger opponent with greater recourses.

Play for the win. Do anything necisary to gain victory. Evrything is viewed as a dirty tactic if your opponant cant do it back. So ignore them and mass them and verything they hold dear.

PPT is an abomination that should be taken out and shot.
By all means keep ppt. God knows even I use it when I want a couple days peace and quiet without worrying about naq building up, or if I'm going away for the weekend...
BUT. PPT should only be usable if you haven't attacked anyone in the last 48 hours. Period. You guys call this a WAR game and cower like stinking rats behind the ppt after you strike, are the lowest scum in the game. Get in wars or stay out. The choice is yours. But once you're in, you're in until it's over. That'd knock all this crap about wars being unwinnable on the head once and for all.
Did I mention you hit a sore point, bringing up the ppt issue?

Hit em hard, hit em fast, Hit em first, Hit em where it hurts, if that means throwing some mud in there eyes, then so be it, So no mercy to them, there officers or alliance, Unless they first proove they are worthy of such mercy.
