The former is acceptable for public consideration, the latter is not, at least on these forums.
Thanks Smoosh. I was thinking that.
I have never served. And I never will. I grew up watching my father serve.
.....*sighs*..... Reaperman. I'll say this. My father didn't get to pick where he went. My father never got to choose which conflicts he got to be a part of. When he went to Bosnia.... it was hard, cause he wasn't sure he wanted to be there. But he went. For a couple of reasons.
He could help. And he knew it. He had 12 years left in his contract at that point in time. Cause you can't just leave whenever you want. You can't give two weeks notice. And cause he's so used to saying 'yes sir' that it never really crossed his mind he could say no. Cause to a military man it's not an option.
I grew up hearing the same motto again and again. whenever I asked dad why he had to do something:
"Ours is not to question why, ours is but to do or die"
You wanna hate the government and the wars, go ahead. Some presidents (or in my case Prime Ministers) should be shot. It's the way of the world sometimes.
But please don't come into threads and try to disrespect the men and ladies who actually put their lives at risk for what the government has declared. Just because they blindly serve doesn't then mean that they are blind to what's going on.
Thank you.
