I have always wanted to join the USAF, but there is too much responsibilty at home to enlist.

I've thought of serving in the Canadian armed forces...


but then I realised we only had 12 M16's, and about 13rounds... which when one of them went missing Harper got elected.


(really though, I've thought about signing the dotted line. And I havn't been able to reason to myself why).

I will tell you Mystake sitting at the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) all day really makes you think about it but in the end the only thing you have to ask is "Will I get what I want out of this?" for me the answer was yes but what you want to get out of this is an individual thing I personally wanted direction and discipline

see... personally I'm in university(college in the US, college in canada is actually diff) and I'm getting the education I want... ontop of becoming lazy.

Not too terribly sure what there is to get out of it.

I was in the 82nd Airborne.

And as such a few years ago I heard a comment I will never forget.

A few years back after the initial invasion of Iraq, the french UN delegate stood up in front of the U.N. and claimed the US was there for the oil etc etc.

Now on this same day there was a rash of desecrated US WWII graves in France.

Colin Powell stood and replied with this.

but I do love the air force, and fighter pilots really are like heroes to me. But as I said, it's for personal reasons and has absolutely nothing to do with war.

I'm going into the Air Force, does that make me your hero to be?

No, you have to actually become a pilot first


It's a long difficult road ahead of, though I'm sure you already know that. However I applaud you for being able to atleast take the first steps


However, you should know that the odds of you becoming an F-16 pilot are not very good, you're more likely to fly the PoS F-22

But I'd still fly it given the chance

Actually I haven't really done any research. I just decided that I want to fly fighter planes

My dad told me they pay for your college, which is one reason I'm doing it. That's probably the only way I'll be able to afford college, unless I get a scholarship for soccer or academics(that one is doubtful, I'm not super amazing at school, just 93's across the board )

P.S. Any info you guys(ie. military folk ) can give me on careers paths in the USAF would be appreciated

If you really want to fly fighter planes, either the Navy or the Marine Corps would be a better choice. The Navy has more planes than the Air Force. and the Marine Corps has a need for pilots. I might be biased cuz the navy's paying for my college through ROTC. got signed into the reserves a few months ago

Maybe the Marines...but I'm probably sticking with the Air Force.

if you want to go like that Jack then the Air Force is the armies taxi, but consider what you are saying for a moment and then get back on topic because all branches are equally necessary

not necessarily goin through paris island can definately make you strong! but then again, you do need to pass a physical fitness test to get there

Each service will make you strong. I'm just not the mental type for a Marine.
