SGW having a virus?

Um...I got it when I was raiding in preg...any answers from admins?

Me wonders how much cookies u have it could be a cookie thats infect by going to XXX site like Svarun told we dont know how naughty people can be on site and webz0rs

nah I wasn't on any XXX sites + if it'd be from XXX site it'd write file: "www.XXXsite.com", and not "www.stargatewars.com/..." so yeah..

Also guys pls don't spam with which AV is the best, I want a clear answer from admin staff (if I'd have time on wednesdays I'd ask him myself but I dont) and spamming will only get the thread locked

SGW does not have virus inside. Its just a cookie or some "evil" code downloaded in your firefox temp files... From other "sex or hack, crack" sites, not SGW...

Solution: Just run your NOD (Clean mode) or empty your privacy data in firefox... I think this should do the trick...

About AV software... I used to have NOD now i have Clamwin on one computer and AVG free software... They are not 100% bulletproof but they do their job.

It is easily possible some shareware, haxware or some other form of ware managed to infiltrate your cookies file and currupt on into a virus LOOKING file. Do note that not all files detected as a virus ARE actually a virus.

And if you are talkin' about anti virus, here is what I use

1. Bitdefender
2. Avast!
3. AVG

Bit Defender is nice as i tis bother spyware and virus protection. It registry scans, and all. Avast! is nice as it scans on start up and gets your registries that way too... Don't know why I still have AVG...

this topic is NOT about the "best" AV or sharing your experiences with your personal AV
it's about a member of the community experiencing a virus alert while surfing the SGW-site.

Lol Windoes Protection is MADE BY SYMANTEC AKA NORTON SO THE WORST CRAP EVER.

That said the Second best AV out there set up correct is McaFee Virus Scan Plus <----- that version newest offcourse.

The Best damn Windows firewall for normal USER not pros is the firewall included there.

Now For Vista plus IE7 = how to get virus, trojan and hackers inside the worst OS ever would event dare to look at it thats how bad it is, nope i stay with XP and SP2 finally got SP2 where it should be and soon SP3 with Direct X. XP and SP2 with IE7 = as bad as vista alone not even going to go there.

But yes Linux alot better just waiting for it to be able to run Windows games proberly and use Directx proberly then i will move.

And before you go McaFee sucks remember this THEY OWN the only company in the world who is allowed to make algorytmes against Trojans and viruses out there any other company doing that will loose all they have and go bankrupted nope they have to send the new virus to that company who then make a new algorytmen which it sends back and other virus companies can buy exept McaFee who gets it before everyone for free.

But back on hand from what i c in that pic he is clearly this side and it is also clealy stating it found something but why is the funny questions.

Ohh btw anyone who want to be fully protected also has a PROBER Trojans and worm program no virus program out there is good enough to take all not even McaFee or kaspersky or any other.

Lol actually Mac OSx is as bad hit as windows sadly for you, only OS today with no chance of virus what so ever unless YOU your self runs it is Unix, Linux Sadly like Mac OSx and Windows can activiate it on its own without user confirmation why we have virus protection.

As asked by the author stop spamming wich AVis the best. The topic is about the virus that maybe has affected SGW so stick to the virus and not to the way wich AV is the best. Every player has his own personal choice for the programs he/she uses

Yeh, i will admit that there are a few viruses out there that infect apple machines, but the problem is nowhere near as widespread as it is in windows. The simple fact is that still the majority of viruses target the majority of users - which is windows.

As long as your careful with OSX, and dont surf on/download from dodgy websites, the chances of getting a virus are very minimal.

Oh and fyi - the technical folks at apple recon there is only 1 major trojan, and one or two other OSX viruses out there, as far as they know.

Yet Mac is hit if you take it on user basis almost 80% as often as a windows user would lol.

No Linux is the best of PC, MAC and Linux. But Unix no one can match it no virus on it and never will be lol.

But back on Topic what happens with this Virus thing and so far his Virus scanner is correct checked the Trojan not a good one and its easy to get sadly :s.
