Re: Australia is stuffed

It may not be spam, but it hardly deserves a place in SGW General.

Howard had his moments, but he was taking the country in a negative direction. I've no idea if Rudd will be any better, but I believe it's better to give Labor a chance than to keep on going with a government I know I don't agree with.

Re: Australia is stuffed

This deserves to be in this and that.

The initial implication is utter rubbish, Australia will not die under Rudd, but it will have a slight change of priorities. Only time will tell the effects this will have on our grand country but I for one welcome a much needed change.

I'm not one who has allegiance to any particular party and won't blindly defend one or close my eyes and refuse to listen to other points of view. I have voted for different parties depending on the situation, what I evalute as the pros and cons cross referenced with other peoples educated opinions so I can make an informed decision as an individual.

However AGA, your posts are not constructive and are over the top, typical of complete indoctrination, failing to admit positive attributes of others and believing only in your own view's unflawed nature and superiority.

If you are going to attack Rudd, please post a constructed argument for your reasons and be willing to take in others views into consideration.

Re: Australia is stuffed

i agree. AGA you cannot say that rudd will destroy the country, labor have NOT been in power for awhile. people scream murder and say rudd will mean higher interest rates and **Filtered** that librel kept interest rates low...

but i believe people fail to see that john howard was no better, his election promise was to keep interest rates low, but that didnt end up happen did it?

but even thats not the point...the point is that labor have not had a chance to prove they have changed as such. john howard towards the end i feel screwed up and made some huge mistakes. i hope rudds complain slogan proves true.
"new leadership, fresh ideas"

and not to mention, john Howard is the second prime minister ever to actually lose his seat because he was not re-voted in for his electorate

so i say all the best to rudd, and hope he proves many people wrong and turns out to be one of the best prime ministers this country has seen

Moved.

Doesn't belong in SGW General as it is not related to the game.

Re: Australia is stuffed

personally i think it will be a nice change because howard's coalition focused on one area and rudd will focus on another so in the end more stuff ends up better off between both governments. Rudd seems to be a competant person to plus he wont be leaving like howard would have more than likely done leaving possibly costello as leader and no-one knows his agenda. I think australia needs the change to balance out some of its areas which were not paid as much attention to under howard

Re: Australia is stuffed

Those worst polluters are newly developed nations. Following the market liberalist economic perspective, to which most if not all western or western oriented nations subscribe, real environmental improvements are only seen when the newly industrialized nations are well into their industrialization period. China is now where the US was decades ago.

Wow, gotta say I agree with you Nuto.

Truth is all the worry about labor 'stuffing' the economy is rubbish. I have little doubt that in purely economic terms the coalition had a slight edge on Labor policy wise. But the economy isn't the only thing the government is responsible for and to have it as the only priority to the expense of EVERYTHING else is irresponsible. But if all you care about is the economy, consider the following 4 issues. Try to keep in mind the social factors at the same time and ask yourself, how much economic prosperity is to much? Yes, there is such a thing as to much economic prosperity when the cost of it is measured in the following ways:

Kyoto is important, it may have some short term negative effects on the economy, but within this generations life time we are looking at absolutely massive climate change. Change that will cause the oceans to rise, rise enough to kill BILLIONS of people. How will that affect the economy?

We have a health crisis in this country. People are dying waiting for a hospital bed. We're not a 3rd world country and people can't access basic health care. How does that affect the economy?

Homosexual rights are horrible in this country. There's no access for them to adopt children, accessing their partners superannuation is difficult (if not impossible), they don't get any of the tax benefits awarded to heterosexual couples all this despite having statistically higher levels of disposable income. If they all move to Europe how will that affect the economy?

AWA's may allow for some economic benefits but many workers lives were seriously disrupted. People who rely on over time rates to make ends meat had their penalty rates slashed, you've all seen the adds, you know what other conditions have been lost. With working families struggling to put food on the table, there's no income left over to live the capitalist life style that grows an economy. How does that affect the economy?

We live in a society, not an economy.
