Okay, a small suggestion. Auriel does much much better at speaking for herself. I understand the support you guys (her friends) want to give her, but you're actually hurting her argument.


Auriel, you know I forgave you awhile ago, when I caught you in IRC and we had a nice long chat then. I'm willing to give you another go at being a normal forum user. I look forward to seeing you around, and seeing how you've changed. You can be a very pleasant person to talk to, and an excellent person to dispute with.

I didn't agree with you coming back and being a mod right away, I'm not sure if you've changed enough to entitle that position and role, but I feel that after you've proven yourself as a forum user first, like the rest of the forum users, it's your right to apply and try to be hired on.


I'm happy that this whole debacle is over, I didn't want another forum outbreak, and I hope you enjoy your time on our forums.

If id have known this information before 16 minutes ago....As the rest of the mod team, Im sure our eyebrows would all have been raised, But the fact of the matter is, Like smooshable HAS done, i would like to openly defend your oppointment,

I cant because what youve done gives less credibility to an already under fire admin and mod team, And youve also, weather your intension or not, caused trouble by makeing this thread.

My personall opinion is you can change what you're doing(forcefuly or not) ,but you can never change your personality\character as it stays the same.

Also, I'll say it like this. You claim you did not "LIE" on your application. Others say you did "LIE". Well you are both right. While you did not directly tell a bold faced lie, you did pourposly omitt something that you knew would have made a difference. Then you did tell a direct lie about the Marshall incident. Now it is possible you just forgot but,,,,. I think everyone needs to know that. I commend your freinds for standing up for you, but if they can't understand the hurt, hard feelings, and distrust that came from what you did, then I'm willing to bet they are following you blindly. There is a difference in knowing and accepting, and blind faith.

For me personally it would have been much easier to deal with if it had been on your application. Then when you got the job why did you not immediately disclose it? I do see and understand your claim of expecting an "Interveiw". It is a valid point and one I would have backed you on,,,,if not for the fact that even after being awarded the job you still remained silent until you were called out on it. At this time you stated" that everyone that ever asked you if you were elladan got a yes" Then when questioned about Marshall you said "Everyone but him". You know how that looks?

I have a question for people saying (to paraphrase) 'give her a chance', etc., etc. 'She can be a good moderator', 'apply in a few months', etc. etc.

She has had chances, and she is getting another now. I don't understand how the math is done from 'doing good on the forum' equalling -becoming a moderator-. There are a lot of people, a heck of a lot of people, that do a heck of a lot for the forum and aren't moderators. I guess I don't understand the thought process of 'I want to do good, now' leads to 'I'm going to apply to be a moderator', for her. There are a lot of people that do good work here, I would hope they apply to be considered.

Honestly, there are a lot of people that would make great moderators. A lot of people that don't have bad history here, or not as bad, let's say. I think (and this is my opinion)... those applicants should be considered before the thought is entertained of someone being a moderator to 'make amends' to the forum.

This thread was written to ask forgiveness for past actions as a member of the community and is NOT to ask for approval to be a moderator..

I don't know about that. Why jump from one forum multi to another if she wants forgiveness? Why hide who you are if you are looking for forgiveness? Surely people can't forgive one persona when another is presented, or they are lead to believe x happens when y really happens? I think (no intention being made to strengthen misconceptions, but), that had she not been pressed about it by mods in the mod forum, she would not have said anything.

If you want to make amends consider doing so from the Elladan, Emma Dasala, Castor, and the other accounts you have. Perhaps people find it so hard to trust you because you have made a stink, disappear, and reappear with another forum account, under a new persona. It's almost like you don't want responsibility for past actions. Almost like shelter is sought under a new roof, as soon as people figure out who you are. Instead of owning up there is hiding. Some will say it is a natural human reaction, indeed it is, but we don't live in the jungle or on the plains of Africa. Hiding doesn't ensure survival here.

Here is the counterpoint: well, people would not accept her, like we see now. No one can say what would or would not happen because we haven't see it. There has always been jumping to other account. No one can say that, had she kept the Elladan/Emma Desala account, that people would not have forgiven her by now. It can't be said because of the jumping to other personas. The argument that users won't forgive because of history is a weak argument because users haven't been given the chance to do so. It is just assumed that x will happen.

Every time I read something like this I get a little angry. I'm not angry at smoosh, just at the way this argument has/is being used.

This is one of those times where I do what I don't normally do: talk about my life/experiences away from the game.

I know someone who suffered from severe mental health issues. I went to high school with him, he almost dropped out of high school because of it (severe occurrence lasted about 8 months). It got so bad for him he couldn't take care of himself. People used to make fun of him terribly, he knew it, but couldn't really do anything about it.

He stuck it out. I don't know if it was from treatment, parents, the illness itself, but he kept up going to school. Retrospectively, I think he probably should have taken a break from school...maybe a year off or something. My point is he didn't hide or complain (not that I saw). He took the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

I don't know what he did after high school. I should have kept in better tough with him, but it was difficult to communicate with him sometimes.

I almost feel like mental health is being used as an excuse. Like it is a get out of jail free card here. I interpret this as the greatest of insults to an old chum who had it bad. I am protective and take that as an insult to me, by extension. Like the greatest of disrespect, that mental health could be tossed around so so lightly.

There is a huge difference from having mild panic attacks (meeting your significant other's parents, exam to pass your worst course in school, etc.) and severe issues that affect the ability to function in life.

If you actually have health issues (important and urgent issues... I don't mean you get anxious sometimes, or get ill at heights, etc.... I mean something substantial) I wish you a speedy recovery.

But, if you are using a small inconvenience in your life and trying to of misleading people to think it's bigger (and I speak as a user), then you don't deserve what you have here and in your life, in light of what mentally ill people have gone though and how much of their lives have been destroyed, when such a condition/state is thrown around so easily and it not existing

Auriel, what i was talkin' about. Is didn't you have your "Elledan" account that had been a member of DDE. Then you came on the forums posting as Emma (some random last name). There was an account with this name in game which I believe was you too wasn't it? So in essence. That is multiing.

And I must agree with buck, you hurt the moderating team by posting this thread. You showed them their flaws. One is that they went on a trusting basis and got bit for it. Then you showed that you can "omit" data on an application that could affect the outcome and get away with it. Finally, you show that the moderating team is willing to let someone who has a chance of relapse of mental instability to continue on their team....

Usually moderators do a good job of showing their flaws... but wow, you really showed them off this time.

I would of been more willing to accept your apology if you had said straight up that you were Elledan.... that whole type of things. But you chose to hide it which in my opinion is not cool. As the saying goes, your past can come back to haunt you.

Someone once judged my moderating/me based on my opinions toward religion on msn.

I was told by him that he didn't like me and thought I was a bad mod because of how I responded to a question about religion, when I have very strong views around that, and specific reasons for hold said views. Granted, he didn't know that, but the pre-judgement was made based on faulty reasoning and overconfidence in his abilities.

The infallible lie detecting ability of msn or skills attained from msn use really isn't that strong.

I will repeat again, anyone who truely knows what she did, and forgives her I commend them. Forgiveness is not something normally found here, its good to see. Reinna, I must say I'm suprised after our MSN convo.

Several people have made good and valid points, too many to quote. To all the Elladan supporters, I do not fault you. If you know the story and beleive in her then your doing what you should. Your backing your friend. I have no disrespect for that or for any of you. I can't really say I understand why you yourselves are so hurt, but maybe I too don't know everything.

@ Elladan you answered the question I wanted to know most. You had the chance to leave the entire Elladan fiasco behind and you didn't. I back what others are saying here in this thread. You've made your confessions, you've made your aplogies, and you've made your bed. Now lie in it. Stand your ground. Become a forum user. Will you be treated harshly by many people? without a doubt. Will you ever gain the trust and respect of some others? without a doubt.

I don't think you meant to do this, and I hope you understand that healing, accpeting, and forgiving is a painfully slow process. Its one I do feel you can complete tho.

I often lied in my life and it doesn't make me a liar particularly more than others...

She did something once, yes, but came back under other forum accounts. Is trust built by hiding your identity from those you seek acceptance from?

Each time she has come back under a different forum account the same thing like this has happened (except for the mod part). People have given their forgiveness in those threads and some haven't. The chances is with the lies. She has a history of lying (doesn't matter for what). People have forgiven her after each time.... and here we find ourselves again, and people are forgiving her. Those are her chances and what's has been done with them.

I am in no position to say that what someone feels is or isn't a valid.

In '05 I lost a good friend of mine. Later that year an 8 year old boy I knew died... I don't know what point you are trying to make.

My suggestion: Don't run to another forum account. Take your slings and arrows.

Elladan has proven she can speak, and stand on her own. Let her. You are starting to hurt her case more then help it. If you really resaerch everything she did not do just 1 bad thing, and this is not just her "Second" chance.

She knows what needs to be done, and she knows the "Heck" shes going to take for doing them. Now its time to just let her.
