:? True, God is not Santa Clause, but he provides for us because he loves us.

Like a child, we may ask, but not always recieve. We are still ignorant children who can't see the bigger picture of what is right for us.

Soulless might have not gotten the job, because it wasn't meant to be. Maybe he is meant for something better, or that somebody else deserves the job.

There are an infinite amount of jobs out there. There are only a few that suit any person. His ways are mysterious, not meaning that he doens't exist.

By the way, if you have nothing constructive to say, Please, don't respond at all. And I find it insulting that you would compare real life to a comedy movie. If I say, I watched Harry Potter, Thus there must be a hogwarts, would you say I'm credible?

PS. Soulless, sorry that you didn't get the job. But I'm sure there is greater opportunity

Re: Christians Central

The main problem I have with the concept of prayer is that 20,000 kids starve every day. I am sure that these kids pray to get food but they don't get it. I don't see why God would answer others prayers if He does not answer their prayers. Another thing that bothers me is the fact that you have to ask for something, if God knows everything why should you have to ask for it? In my heathen opinion praying to Thor will have the same results as praying to God. In the Christian's mind there is no way for prayer to fail. If your prayer gets answered it is God's will, and if it does not get answered it is also in God's will.

:? Just like why do people die, or not die. Why do people get sick, why are some people born deficient? God gave is an opportunity in the begining, but we threw it away by eating from the tree of knowledge. Thus, the plagues that we have today are a result of our own folly.

What the US along can produce can feed and provide for the world. God has given us the resource, but it's us humans that have made the choice to not share and be greedy.

Once we die, we will be judged equally, wether we lived in poverty or in wealth. Our livestyles are insignificant, it's the choices we make. God gave us choices, it our choice to help ourselves.

cos there's that lil thingy called attitude. by asking ya show certain attitude towards the God. by not asking ya show ya don't give a damn, so why on earth should ya get anything?

Ask and thou shall receive.

i disagree... the entire point of mentioning the doors earlier in prayer is demonstrated here...

its obvious that i didnt get it cos thats not what God wants for me right now. i may get a similar position in small time. or maybe something else entirely. I trust god enough to put this in his hands, and i trust him entirely because... well hey, Im still alive. asides from many things throughout my life that were just marvellous, or miraculous if you will.

So if I ask my parents for something for something and I don't get it is that proof that they don't exist? And if they don't exist, then how did I get here? And if I am not truly here, then how am I posting in this thread right now? Again I am coming from the frame of reference that most people on this forum came from a stable two parent home where they experienced love and warmth all through their childhood and beyond. If this does not represent your background, I do apologize for that and offer my sincere sympathies for your situation. However, my parents love me, unconditionally. Believe me, I know this because I have done some pretty stupid things back in the day that would try the patience of Job, and my family has always come through for me. But there were times when I asked for something from my family and they said no. Was it because they didn't love me? No, it was because they knew that it wasn't right for me at that time to have it.

I had to do the same thing for my brother when he was suffering from an addiction. He asked for money from me and, as much as it pained me to say no to him, I had to refuse to give it to him because I knew that it wasn't the right thing for him. I, however, did pray for him, and he is now clean for six years and counting.

God loves you and everyone. But He is NOT Santa Claus. But He DOES answer all prayers. Sometimes the answer is no. And sometimes, the answer is not immediate. Prayer involves something called patience. If you just get down on your knees to pray and to ask for something and then go about your daily routine and don't give that prayer a second thought for another day or so and, if it hasn't been answered, you assume that God didn't answer your prayer, then perhaps you ought to change the way you pray.

Here is what I do. I usually find a nice quiet place where I can spend at least 15 minutes, free from distractions. I then put forth my supplications for the Lord. And then I sit. And I wait. For an answer, a sign, or just to listen. Answers may not always be obvious. And, just like our parents, sometimes God likes to surprise us when we least expect it. But prayer is not only about asking for God's help, it is also about attitude. If you have an attitude where you actually EXPECT God to answer, then you are demonstrating faith. If you pray to God and expect the same results as if you pray to Thor, then you may not actually be praying with the right attitude.

I pray that each and everyone of you who reads this has a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. May the God who sent His only Son to Earth to ransom us all from the power of sin, bless you richly in the coming year.

The Ignorance of your convictions is by far some of the most amusing things I have ever read. If this is the calibre of the devout and followers who stand idly in the shadow of God using it as their scape goat, and explanations for their own faliures, then it is not divine enlightenment that the church needs, its a smack across the face and a welcome to the real world. But I suppose if it makes you feel better and avoid the truth at all cost's with the benevolent overlord to fall back onto, its a case of whatever floats your boat! I just pray for your own sake that when it truly comes down to it, you have sense enough to draw the line between what can do the doing, and what can watch the doing, because otherwise you believe in one of the biggest contradictions going, and it will do you no good in the end thinking as you do. This world is godless and no manner of hope and sucking up to it upstairs is going to save any of our arses from burning for eternity.

Semper,

I am sorry that you believe the world is godless. I have encountered something for those of you who are of a science-above-religion bent. If you go to the website, http://www.bethlehemstar.net, I believe you will find some enlightening evidence to the existence not only of God but of His Son, who died for all of us, not just the Christians but for all people that they might be redeemed. Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it but to save it. And I hope that each and everyone is filled with the true spirit of Christmas this year. Merry Christmas and God bless!

good point...

i was touched by the simplicity of one persons gift... at the time it was what I really needed...

For those who dont know, my grandfather is in hospital, and on the 24th i was leaving after visiting... needless to say with what was going on, let alone the timing, i was pretty distraught. As i left the doors, a family stopped us and handed us a pack of buiscits with a card. A simple gesture, but it was what i needed. I wouldve gotten to the car and cried for a long time otherwise. Those ppl demonstrated real courage and the real meaning of the season.

what really touched me tho was what was in the card.

it reads as follows:

"In our busyness that is our world,
it's easy to forget the simple joys
of life like receiving an unexpected
gift - no strings attached.

Our wish for you is that you
experience peace, goodwill and
hope not only at Christmas but
every day of the year.

Happy Christmas"

i read that from the passenger seat on the way home, and that made my day.
