I think this is indeed power abuse and it is only an example for many incidents where moderators censor things they don't want to see on the forums regardless if they are absolutely fine by the forum rules.

It werent power abuse and actually i did only lock it not delete it so i didnt hide it. But no it was rubish to start a thread in GC when it should

    [1] be in vendetta
[2] be kept in the forum because the job was after the book

i locked it because it was turning into a hate party and arguments was about to spring.

No closing that was to calm things down or my hope to do so i know my remark at the time werent the smartest but i am human and was angry and was close to delete the thread in anger over someone break 1 clear rule of the forum and breaks 1 moral rule. He posted a topic in the wrong section knowingly, 2 he massed a mod for doing his job which i could have been the one because many where complaining about it else it wouldnt happen.

But Gheisha that massing was uncalled for so was the topic. Hence locked. It was by the book not to misuse power nor to make you think that i followed protocol on the rules of this forum.

so why not just move it to the vendetta forums???

Because you don't agree with the reason for his massing. Plain and simple.

Your job is to make sure everyone is following the forum rules. Your job is not to teach people your own moral standards or to tell them how to play the game.

Re: How to solve the issues of mod and community??

As to the original point of this topic, regardless of modding decisions and whatnot, the forum shouldn't be modded by people who also have a game account. Quite frankly, if you dont want to be massed for mod decisions, then dont have an account, because whatever you post here will not change the fact that some people will always feel the need to mass for forum decisions.

But well done for opening a can o' worms, so to speak.

Because in the end it should never have happen and it has nothing to do with my moral standards i closed that topic according to the rules. He massed a player or a mod for doing his job got alot of aplouse and well thats just mean if it was kept it would just stir more up by closing it i also had a chance to calm things down both towards squishy but also towards the angry players more than letting it stay no one would post constructiive in there. My job is also to do the right thing in this case to close and move on.

Well i disagrea everyone in here could keep job and ingame from it self if they wanted to but i dont mind having a ingame account i know someone one day will mass me for modding him or her because they will say i was bias or just because they dont like i do a job, or in case i make a mistake as every human does instead of comming to me just wanna take it out ingame thats how life is sadly not all think when they are angry and do stupid things even admin and mods. Its part of being human. But i do wish people would try to hold what happens here with a mod here and not ingame but what happens here with a player well is as it should be also go out ingame problem is people has a hard time looking past when a mod does his job even if they dont like what he does and when he is acting like a player. I never did this to open a can of worms but to start a dialog with the community because i know from before i got to be a mod that many was against us as a team and hatred is here and today showed it.

I want to try to breake that custom maybe even get a talk with you people and make something happen because mods are here to stay so are you guys and we need to work together on this. I for one will do my part to work with everyone as well i can but to do that i need everyone help in return because no one can be everywhere and there are rules in place if no one broke them we wouldnt be here to do anything but lock old topics and delete them when they reach that point. If someone misbehaved that their friends cut in and stopped it. But right now i just wanted to start this dialog and move from there.

It startet off stupid because of a locking of a thread and then a massiing and then well it went down hill.

I want to stop it here, move forward and talk to find a solution instead of all this.

I don't think you are hired as a mod for your psychic abilities, but rather your censor abilities. If arguments spawn isn't it your responsibility to clean them out?

Yes but our job is also to lock topics getting of track and either make a new clean one reminding people to stay on track or tell them no more. But your wrong this latest action still shows that there need to be done something because we mods has lost alot of user trust and not much should happen not even if it by the book before someone take it really bad or goes ingame without speaking to us first.

I want to chance that because it is not only my job as a mod but also as a user of this forum to make it a place for all like it is yours 2.

Oddly enough, for the first 4 months of this year, when I was still an Admin, I didn't have an in-game account. Yet there were many people (some mods, some not) who thought I shouldn't be a mod BECAUSE I didn't have an in-game account.

Just goes to show you can't please anyone or everyone, no matter what the circumstances!

Do you still not understand that it is not up to you as a moderator to judge what is a valid reason for a massing and what isn't?

Everyone here has their own opinion and many of us don't always agree with all massings and wars going on. The only difference is that we do not have the power to censor the forums and lock war threads just because we do not like the war in question.

You even posted that you closed the thread because massing a mod for his mod decisions ins rubbish. Well that is your opinion but who are you to dictate the community what to have wars about?

Sum it up: viewtopic.php?p=1173013#p1173013

I didnt do it on personal note. I asked Nig was it a vendetta topic then i would move it he ignored. Neither did he imply it was a war just a massing also therefore the locking of the topic is just. That my wording might not been that i am truely sry for :(.

I have to agree with geisha on this one , its sometimes hard to se a fellow mod being massed for a , let me call it a mistake , but wat if the account was massed for no reson at all , just cos someone was bored , there wold be no big problems about that , its like farming , sometimes its a clean naq hit and you log in 4 turns later to se everything is massed , nobody likes it but it happends , same with mods , you take the position it involves riskes.

I had to laugh at the fact it's a FAHQ member whose massing provoked such hilarious outrage. I guess it's a-okay for that alliance to randomly mass another 'for fun', but when one of them gets massed for something they did on the forums it's suddenly the crime of the century. Haha. You people and your logic.

Re: How to solve the issues of mod and community??

i can only see a few ways for this to go...
1. the mods loose their patience and
....A) start leaving the forums...no mods..(bad replacements)...chaos on forums..who knows
....B) they start involving forum/ingame even more leading to massive power abuse

2. the "community" looses their patience and
....A) revolts...spamming...annoying stuff leading to 1
....B) start leaving en-mass

3. the mods keep it together and
....A) start reorganizing, dropping "rotten apples" (if there are any...i have no idea, not pointing to anyone here)
....B) begins pleeing (whining is probably the term some here like to use) to the community to stop doing this or that...dunno if it will help

ok i probably left some stuff out i realise there is no way for knowing what will happen, this is pure speculation on my side from the experiences i get off this forum..imo there's no escaping this since the "violence" originating ingame ... what else can you expect then it coming in here.
i think this forum is great for trading, small talk but all to often people try to gain respect ingame trough posting in here leading to jealousy, hate, violence...who knows.
wars/vendettas are written down here and for what cause exactly???...gaining respect?? going about bashing/flaming??
i don't get it...i must say i'm not innocent in this matter neither...i have posted in the GC before but "thankfully" it stayed clean.

closing this; i dunno what will happen in the future.. things will probably happen.
i will still be around...since there is no alternative

above is all personal opinion and will without a doubt be not like yours...which is normal...i accept criticism

Re: How to solve the issues of mod and community??

didn't read the whole thing(5 in the morning here) but where i come from is a mod always right even if he is wrong :P
i agree that he acted a little quick on closing that topic and opened a new one and there was a lousy first post but ppl make mistakes.
if ppl tried to get old topic opened and he didn't wanted to make any afford the help then prehaps a little massing would not hurt but if not then this is out of hands.

anyhow if a mad acts like an real ass and feels like GOD or something he deserves a little bit of ass kicking but if a person tries to make an effort to keep forum clean and nice to everyone and gets massed ... that's just wrong.

btw this community sucks, rules should be more harder if u ask me;)

....for fun...this is a GAME remember? not your life...youre supposed to PLAY the game and ENJOY it and have FUN ..gasp!

this massing had no purpose other than to be spiteful and rude, and i think it was because the one crying was nigatsu/(geisha) (you should see squishies posts on our forum LMAO) since someone actually rained on their hateparade and didnt sit on their hands....
